I'd like to preface this by saying it's Ken's (Ghost531) fault that I have an Obutto. Ya'll might have seen my review of the unit here (http://combatace.com/topic/59958-obutto-gaming-cockpit/). I've heavily modified it so without further ado here it is:

phew!! awesome stuff..
Nice, modern, 'hi-tech'.. a definite winner for the modern home http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Needs a cup holder. (my girlfriend says that's the only thing missing)
Hell NO!.. it needs a beer can (wine glass) holder.. throw in an ash-tray to make it more authentic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Read more about the Buttkicker at CombatAce (http://combatace.com/index.php/topic/38170-buttkicker-review/). It's a must have, as important as TrackIR IMHO.

It would be a great addition to the game if Oleg could some how set triggers or some other means to send signals to the Kicker at the appropriate time.

As it is now the Kicker is not very effective giving little or no feeling where it should and often giving simple vibrations and /or large thumps where it shouldnít because it works on the bass sounds. This means that on landing say you donít feel a bump on touch down or feel the rumble of the wheels.
Similarly one canít feel the rumble and vibrations cease as the wheels leave the ground or the thump on closing and many other appropriate situations are the same.

The immersion would be lifted to a whole new level completely if this could be achieved.

Cheers,
Ibis.

That statement is incorrect. I don't fly IL-2 any more, I'm flying the LockOn/Flaming Cliffs/DCS series but you can feel the wheels on the tarmac as you're rolling. You can feel the gear doors close, the bomb drop off the rails. It's about the quality of the sounds in the game that makes the difference.

Do you own a Buttkicker? If so do you own the same unit I own? The Buttkicker Gamer is a good unit, but no comparison to the unit I'm running. As it stands now I have bass redirected with my sound card with a freq rolloff at 30hz. The only thing that could be construed as negative with the Buttkicker is you have to tweak your sound settings till you find the sweet spot. It took me a week (off and on) of semi-serious attempts till I found what works best for each sim.

DCS A-10 is amazing with the Buttkicker. They've spent a lot of time with the sounds and it shows when you're running a 600 watt, 5.1 sound system. You can feel the expansion joints on the taxiway as you roll over them. The movement of the gear when you raise them and the gear doors as they close. I can feel the turbulence as I extend the airbrakes. Near misses with SAMs still startle me, after years of running a Buttkicker. What is really an eye opener is firing the GAU8 on a strafing run. It feels like you're sitting right on top of a massive weapon. And with the Buttkicker mounted to the steel frame I can feel all of this thru all my controllers. Logitech sent me a G940 for eval, force feedback for only the joystick is overrated. The Buttkicker is like force feedback for your whole body. And then some.

The better the sounds the better the experience with the Buttkicker.

I have the one that Billy linked... and it is nice.. is it perfect? No.. but it definitely adds to the immersion factor.. I got mine on sale for $50.. What I would lke to see are rudder pedals and HOTAS systems .. that not only have FFB.. but also rumble.. so that say when you touch down you feel it .. in your feet.. and in your hands.. both of them.. So that when you throttle up you feel the rumble of that simulated Pratt & Whitney all over..

Thats a damn nice pit RuggButt. Got any plans to put a TM Warthog in there? You'll need to get those touch screens up and running in A10C.

My 300 watt BK does that. The frame of my pit is metal and everything is attached to that metal. You can feel it all over. Obutto and Buttkicker are a great combo.

I have a buttkicker, and also a subwoofer box is nestled up to the back of some CH Pro pedals that give a decent vibration.

You sure have a really nice setup Rugg http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Here's a shot of the old pit I retired (built it myself):

http://iplaster.net/rugg/pit09a.jpg

I may bring the two touchscreens back one of these days, but for now I'm thinking about buying a couple of Thrustmaster MFD's and two 8" LCD's to put behind them.

Nice setup. I notice the joystick is mounted to the side as in a modern short axis fly-by-wire system.
Does anyone make a long floor mounted joystick like you would find in a pre 1970s aircraft?

I have the Butt Kicker and it works perfectly. The problem I have is the amp.It is super loud! They have a new version with a new digital amp that makes no noise at all. Problem is, the new version is not available any where. Anyone here know where I can at least buy the new amp? Will the new amp work with the rest of my set up? You know, cables etc. Thanks for any help.

I have an Obutto myself, currently using it for race sims and I haven't hooked up the flight mounts to it yet to test it in HOTAS trim, but I can say it is money very well spent and the best deal in the sim rig department bar none. It costs less than a good desk does.
