Now without spending a very very large sum of money, what is basically the best sound card out there right now? I have a sound blaster live right now and it really tears away at my computers performance. I work at Circuit City so I can get a good discount but what would you say is the best sound card?

Well i just bought a soundblaster extigy and i love it.Performance wise it is exactly the same as the audigy 2 but it conects via a usb port and the box is lean and sits upright on your desktop. This setup works great for me as i have access to the buttons and controls right there and can plug in a number of devices easily without a messy wire situation and it also comes with a remote controll so i can lay back and adjust my sound while the dvd is playing. What sold me was the that these same features all come with the audigy 2 card also but the extigy was cheaper check it out at the soundblaster site with your discount i am sure you will be pleased with both price and performance.

The top 3 performers are currently

1. Nvidia Nforce 2 motherboard Onboard sound.

2. SB Audigy 2

3. Audigy 1,Herc Fortissimo etc.

Your SB live should be fine to be honest tho.

A new GFX card would give u much more performance than a soundcard.

WHat GRX card do u have now?
