I made a video of an IA Zeke on Ace mode. He should have been all over me but at least this one looked like a real pilot and not IA.

I also noticed the difference in the gun recoil, as mentioned in another thread, as well as the stick settings allowing my to not over control so much causing the wobble to be unplayable.

Notice it takes a lot to down this zeke, I need to better my aim but its better than it was.

Yes, I never zoom in. I try to take some pop shots that far out while in a fight. If I sneek in on someone, I don't shoot till I dang near run over them...lol. Also, If I get too close in a fight, the zero can get real slippery.

I only stayed with this IA because I was hopping I damages his controls. You couldn't really see it in the video but parts where flying off nearly every shot. I can email the Track to anyone that wants it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Quick question/comment:

I noticed you flew the whole combat with cockpit open..is it model in the game that it will affect your drag?

I usually open it for takeoff, landing, and when cruising for the better visibility it gives, however i close it when I get into a fight to reduce the drag that it creates...is this modeled int he game? or is there no difference between open/close cockpit in terms of drag?

Thanks

Yes, it is modeled. I just don't like it closed. I close it when I start to run away, as well as in a diving run on a ground target.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Here is the guncam footage of the same fight. There very first clip was suppose to be my only shot, by my rules fighting A6Ms, but I never fired a shot because I stalled under him. I needed some fun so I kept on. I also started the fight at 2,000ft. Not exactly where I would want to be in a real fight. You can also tell from there shots that there is a great deal of misses. However, I got both tanks but no fireball. I can't remember if the A6M3 had sealing tanks or not!

Anyway, it was fun!

Hard to say from the zoomed out view but you were not hitting him and when you did...just glancing shots.

Still...very nicely executed, good scissors maneuver, and of course the victory was yours in the end!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I like the 'C' model Corsair, the big guns ripp em up better. But that was pretty good. Sort of how I fight.

You don't use the rear view mirror? I've found it very useful to avoid nasty surprises.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I normally dont shoot till I can read the contructors serial plate on the tailwheel http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif before I used to shoot from the same distances as you did, that was mainly because I flew aircraft with lots of ammo and pretty powerfull guns. Then I started flying alot of Hayabusha online against some mates who mainly fly spitfires mk9 and to kill them you need to get REALLY close, like 100 meters close. If you do that in a Mustang you really tear up your enemies.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You might want to go into your config file and under Sound, turn Attenuation down to =1. You won't get the unrealistic external noises http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You`ll use up all your ammo firing from so far away.

In a Campaign or online you may need to change your tactics. You do fine on a one on one, but if there were multiple bogeys you wouldn`t survive very long that way unless you had good wingman protection.

I like to get close (I mean see the rivets) and give a good burst that`ll take him down almost immediately and save on using up too much ammo.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Very cool post HAWK,I didn't know you could host vids at photobucket,is it free?

Also I'm very happy with the new stick settings, the F4U seems much more managable, the HELLCATS wobble seems to be cured as well. What do you set your gun/cannon convergence to?

This is abit of topic but since you posted your vid,you and others might be interested in this from the Movie Makers Forum,This one might be the overall best video iv'e seen,it has inspired me to try to make my own vid's

I was just playing around. In 1946 I can now go up against 4 IA Zekes and shoot 3 of them down without them "Latching" on to my 6 from 20 miles away...lol

Here is some footage of me vs 4 Zekes from the 204th. I got the first two then the second two tried to set me up. The third, the leader, tried a long shallow climbing left turn which allowed his wingman to come in, however, I popped off a few long shots and he dove out. Then I turn with him but headed for his wingman killing his engine. he dove out and ditched while I started back in on the leader. I kept up my speed...we eventually got on the deck where he stalled out and crashed. I never took a shot...lol They never fired a shot on me...never had a chance!

Thats is the way I like to do it!

What do you have your convergence at? I've been experimenting with it and I find that 175m is the best for me. Recently while flying on Zekes, I have made A6M5 explode from a 2 second burst.... ahhh I love when that happens.

I noticed the view panning wasn't smooth, I take it you don't have TrackIR, I'd highly recommend it don't have to fumble with keys or use valuable hat switches to look around.

Also you don't seem to be leading enough for a good deflection shot, I've also blown up Zekes with a short burst when most of my round hit home.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I don't think I will get the track right now, just got a few more important things on the list.

Yes, there were many times I was unable to lead and other times I was easy on the controls to prevent the nose wobble I get.

I am still experimenting with some stick settings that look promising.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
