This one's got propellers too.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y289/mctomney/osprey03RIAT2006.jpg

I thought the Osprey was just amazing. Sounded nice too.

The Mig-29 mit vector thrust. It didn't look like it was flying so much as gravitating about the sky. Most awesome.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y289/mctomney/mig29RIAT2006.jpg

The venerable P-51. This one had 4 kills to it's credit and is now part of the Duxford collection, coming home after 60 years.

DUDE! You brought a tank to an airshow!

The last photo I took before the batteries ***ged out. Memo to self: take spare batteries next time.

You want more? Can you take any more?

V-22 Osprey, this was my personal favourite.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y289/mctomney/osprey04RIAT2006.jpg

Lynx. This thing can do things no helicopter should be able to do.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y289/mctomney/lynx01RIAT2006.jpg

The boss. Respect.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y289/mctomney/b5202RIAT2006.jpg

Swiss cheese.

When I grow up I want to be a strategic bomber. A Gr. 9 strolls by the big boys.

...it was hot. Really hot. Lord it was hot.

Indeed they scratch the canopies, but its standard practice with the RAF to wear them..

Now, now Tony, you and I both know it heroically sacrificed itself trying to get bent with the old bill. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

There was the most lovely VC-10 there and I took the most diamond photo thinking of you and just as I hit the button some bloke's furry bonce hove into view and the shot was shagged. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

If any of you are interested about the GR9 that failed to make it. Nik-Nak the pilot flying the Harrier, is ok hes just a little shorter for it. I saw him come home today (he lives across the street from me). As for the incident, the CO told him not to do it again as hes short and the CO doesnt want him any shorter. No news on what caused the mishap tho.

Heres some more photos of the Hurri in the above pics, I took these at the Wittering Open Day.

Is that pilot kneeling on the seat? Or does that P51 have magical seat raising? I assume he's taxying, looking at the up elevator.

Hey Ploughman, we still haven't had that pint! If I'd known you were there you could have got me one - I was sweltering away in the food and drink marquee by the Jet Provosts, selling liquorice to the masses. Who, for some reason, appeared to be swarming around the lemonade stall rather than my multicoloured offerings!

Cheers!

No way, Dunk! Me and the Mrs were getting frazzled on the other side of those Centurions and Chieftans and stuff in front of the Omega tanker. Must've walked right by you a dozen times. I'll PM you and we'll go for a pint down the Bunch o' Grapes, love that pub, sometime. I've got to set up a new exhibition and then I'm off camping so it'll have to wait until I get back week after next. I'll see if RocketDog fancies a jar too, he's up the hill I think.

Here's something on the Mig-29OVT that just seemed to be defying the laws of gravity from the Farnborough airshow. LINK (http://www.flightglobal.com/Articles/2006/07/17/Navigation/177/207871/Farnborough+pictures+Russian+air+force+aerobatic+d isplay+team+seeks+help+naming+MiG-29OVT.html)

The jet's got some groovy UFO like manouvers and they need a name, whilst 'the Spitfire IX 25 lbs' will undoubtably be offered by our bluer members, I thought you all might like a look in.

This isn't the half of it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

With three memory cards and three batteries I managed to rattle off over 800 shots....when all the blurry ones and pictures of just sky have been removed I'm left with about fifty.

Ah well, here's a couple:

I mean, some of us yanks cant understand a word you guys are saying, but it sure is entertaining
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. England and America have always been two nations seperated by a "common" language.

Great pix guys. I couldnt believe the Chieftan, and they had a Centurian there to? That paint job on the Osprey is very odd looking. If you're having trouble with fuzzy shots, i suggest using manual shutter speeds; 1/250 for props and 1/500 for fast moving jets. You photos are very good BTW. Thanx for sharing those. You guys in England are lucky...most American airshows are so blasted restricted ive had problems getting shots with a 500mm lens.

I cant wait for the next time a friend and i go into a bar (pub without the character) and I tell a waitress "rocketman here fancies a jar". Her expression will be exactly that in the smiley i started this with.
