I am not sure if this is a bug or not. Anyway decided to take the Betty up for a spin with a type 91 torpedo on the Pacific Island map. Problem is every time I dropped it the torpedo exploded on the water ... and bang I crashed.

Well so I was too fast/high (can't recall exactly) so tried around 60 m and 200k/h or even as slow as 180...no difference. Once I did drop around 40 and the torp ran on but the spout broke a wing and I crashed (and the torp did kill the ship btw...but of course no credit for me).

I tried the other planes and I had no problems so my questions are:

Is this a real bug? If not what are the parameters for a good drop with the Betty? I can't find the sweet spot with the G4M if so.

running tests, u can drop it as high as 350 feet...but then that would actually have caused the fish to dive too deep if it hadn't exploded in rl.

did another drop. this time at 150 feet at 150mph. fish ran fine. dropped it from a tad over 350', and the fish exploded on contact with the water.

historically, the fish was dropped from no higher than 150' off the deck, at about 150mph.

The Type 91 (1931) Mod 1 torpedos that they used when they attacked the Prince Of Wales and Repulse were dropped from around 400 feet (120m).

The Americans made amazing strides with their air launched torpedos. They performed tests in early 1944 on the standard Mk13 fitted with a wooden nose ring and tail shroud being dropped from 3000 feet upto 7000 Feet and upto 350 mph, of the 6 drop 5 ran true and hit their targets.

Late in the war MK13`s were being dropped from 1000 feet operationally at Truk.
