OK, goofballs, time to get warm and fuzzy. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

There is a lot of knowledge and experience in this community and many of us have been helped by that.
Here is your chance to get some good Karma and thank someone from this community who has helped you with something.

Let's try and keep it clean and mature so it does not get locked. OK? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I will start.
Thanks to GEMINI, BEARCAT AND RBJ for their advice on replacing my Logitech stick with the MS Sidewinder FF stick.
It works AWESOME! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Thanks to COMMIE1 for helping me many times with my html script. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Thanks to VEN for putting up with our crap and having a sense of humour about it. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Anyone else want to be gracious and show some appreciation?

I thank Buzz too, for being in every daggone thread I can think of.

I also thank Thunderbolt56 for being encouraging and generous.

Not to mention the many people who've advised, encouraged and contributed to the IL-2 User's Guide. Which I need to get back to work on.

Thanks also to Tall Canuck for starting another thread. The board so desperately needs threads.

I have been here too long to just thank one person for any help I may have needed to get Il2 or FB running. I was fortunate never to have technical problems with the game (even while I was playing IL2 on a 1ghz athlon with 256 megs of ram and a gefore2MX).

So too many characters over the two years though many stand out as landmarks like Carl (Stormin) for his homour and straight talking.

The so called whiners for the sheer data they bring to the forum to try and reinforce an agument. I love pouring over those performance charts.

I would have to say thanks to all the characters in this forum . A lot have gone and moved onto other pastures but a lot are also stil here with newbies joining all the time (we all burn out and move on at some point however).

Cheers fellas/gals/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I'd like to send a S! to SmokeJaguar. He's been around here forever, spent a considerable amount of time in the thankless role of Moderator, often increasing his own stress levels in the process, and finally reaching a point where it was time to move on from that and even still he continues to hang around here and share great screenies he's taken, among other things.

Another one to Spectre. Haven't seen him lately but he's one helluva good d00d all around.

HeavyDelta also deserves honorable mention for his great contributions of humour and also piloting skill <-- /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif he he as well as being a decent guy.

Ah heck, why not Helos for flaunting the fact that he's a h0m0 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hunter of course but he already won that two pound solid gold UBI award so maybe he's already gotten enough recognition for a while

Stormin, who's a stand-up guy that took a beating from many people (like Hellcat?) for being heavy-handed, and who in the end turns out to have been a great part of establishing the fabric of this community in its infancy.

RaybanJockey deserves a S! for showing the utmost of perseverence against all odds as he defends his poorly founded opinions against piles and piles of contrary factual data, managing to convince a few less intelligent people in the process /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

And lastly, I'd like to salute myself, because "I'm smart enough, I'm nice enough, and dalgarnet, people like me" /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

As we all know, the Soviet Union had too many fighter pilots during WW2. So Stalin's scientists came up with a brillient way to solve this problem. They would make some of their pilots fly British made Hurricanes. The Hurricane was an uber flying coffin. It was designed to maximize pilot kills by providing nothing but fabric and a few wooden spars around the cockpit. This setup prevented the pilot from escaping easily while at the same time not interfering with enemy bullets and shrapnel trying to pass through it. The rest of the Hurricanes structure was designed to ricochet bullets and shrapnel into the cockpit. And thanks to the cockpits superb design, all of them would pass through the cockpit and the pilot inside with little difficulty. Of course the Hurricane's designers didn't stop there. In order for the Hurricane to become a flying coffin, they had to make it easy to shoot. They did this by making the Hurricane the slowest monoplane fighter in use at the time and even gave it a very bulky shape so that it would be easy to spot and hit. The final feature of the Hurricane was its ability to bury or cremate itself. And because it was made of biodegradable materials, the Hurricane was environmentally friendly after it buried itself. Because of these brillient features, the Hurricane was a perfect flying coffin and helped the Soviets solve the pilot surplus they were suffering.

Mwahahaha, got the response I was looking for/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif . Seriously though, I'm not as cocky as I once was. I really don't dogfight anymore as that has gotten boring for me. Now I blow up tanks in a Ju-87G or do lone wolf attacks on heavily defended targets in my trusty Fw 190F8. Sometimes I survive, sometimes I don't, either way its alot of fun. At this point I would say I'm more of a jabo ace then anything else. But that is a bit of an overstatement since I still die alot, especially in antishipping.

This adds tons to my understanding of this flight sim and respect for those who actually flew (our simulated) planes in combat.
