AFAIK it was used mainly in Korea

As far as I know it was operational during the WWII and was used during the push for Berlin. I say it should be in the game.

Finally, a decent, thought-provoking thread! I would like to know more about this plane. I'll do a search and check my references. Meanwhile, if anyone can tell any more about it, I would appreciate it.

If it was used in substantial numbers, then inclusion in the game would seem to be requisite.

It was used in the last few months of the war, but beyond that I can't remember much and my book on soviet bombers is round at my brothers, curses! I'll get it back tomorrow and add something if I can.

-------------------------------------

Swarms of Mosquitoes flew into Reich territory on an average of more than ten nights a month. Beginning with October [1944] these swarms grew into larger formations of 60-80 aircraft, against which the Luftwaffe could do hardly anything. In July three of these 'wonder-birds' were destroyed by He 219s.of which only one was near its operational ceiling.as a result, and also because of high losses.the Uhu Mosquito hunt was discontinued. From that time onwards the He 219s themselves became victims of British long-range night fighters.

Serial IL-10 were used by VVS since November 1944.
Total of 785 IL-10 were produced before 1 May 1945.

The Il-10 appeared in prototype form in the summer of 1944. The modifications from the Il-2 included the engine (changed to a Mikulin 2000hp), landing gear, and armament (replaced by 3 20mm cannons). Il-10 was chosen in preference to the Su-6, it's main competitor. It served in the last phase of the war, and was a front-line fighter until the 1950's.

BTW I forgot to mention the design was more streamlined.

The Il-10 would be a great airplane to fly.

Even if I'm rather a fan of the early war planes.

But, an I-15bis and an Il-10 would allow to have a war long Shturmovik campaign from the earliest planes used in ground support units to the latest ones.

Very super~loved by air crew. Far better than IL~2 rush job. Production continued to about 1950.

This is the Sturmovik the A~10 was named after. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Pretty sure the arnament was the 23mm wing mounted and four of those. The rear gunner had the 12.7 or a 20mm IIRC ?

I'm telling you what I read in an encylopedia, and it says that it was 3x20mm. Of course it could of had a bunch of variations.
I just saw that it says in addition there were 2x23 machine guns.

I for one sure hope we get the Il10 - looks great, must have moved large amounts of mud around Seelow Heights etc..

But what about the Pe2? - thus far we have no flyable VVS medium bombers even though some 12,000 Pe2s were built.

Hmmmm....

Just becasue you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Damm what a cool plane ... the IL2 in FB is pretty cool but slow ... more power & speed & climb would be great !!
