Is there a weapon guide on here with information primarily on bombs. i.e. what the letters mean at the start?

PC, SC, SD, A, , P, BRS, RS, FAB, VAP,

etc etc

the manual doesn't shed any light.
thanks.

The original IL-2 manual has a list of what the abbreviations mean - although there are a few in PF which aren't in the original manual as they're new types.

SC = general purpose bomb

SD = Fragmentation bomb

PTAB = Anti-tank bomblets

AO = general purpose bomb

FAB = General purpose bomb

AJ-2 Ampoules = similar to napalm

VAP-250 = Similar to napalm (phosphorus)

RS-82, RS-132, M-13 = Rockets with demolition warhead

BRS-82, BRS-132 = Anti-armour rockets

(-82, & -132 = 82mm & 132mm warheads)

There are other types that I don't know exactly what they are, but if you have saved the ReadMe docs from the patches, there is some information in those as new weapons have been introduced. Not everything is listed, but there are a few details.

If you download 'IL2 Wingman' (link in this thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/2611076734)). It has an ordinance viewer which gives you a description of all the different bombs and what they're good for. It also contains sections for guns and planes. A nifty wee programme.
