yellow submarine is a good one too. its a bit unrealistic though. i mean the aerial torpedoes and FAT torpedoes didnt function like that. great camouflage scheme though. At least we dont have that bug in silent hunter 3!!

Don't forget about the atmospheric music and all those special effects!

The film was way before its time.

If no one knows something about the film we can always look for it on IMDB:

heres an bit of das boot trivia,

Of the aces thru out the war,and of those who acheived success with the type VIIc, one of the most famous was the commander of U96, the vessel depicted in das boot. And although the film is fictionalised and not all that acurate,in reality the commander of U96 Heinrich Lehmann-Willenbrock was decorated with
the Knightscross of the iron cross (awarded 26 Feb 41) he also recieved the oak leaves
(31, Dec 41) he went on to sink 25 enemy ships for an total tonage of 183,000.
before moving to an shore posting, where he was to command first the 9th and then the 11th flotillas.

its a great movie! its about a US destroyer vs a uboat... kinda unrealistic when their boat lands on sand at 310 meters, but oh well, still a good movie.... i believe its based on a true story too... the 2 captains actually met eachother after the war or something (or i'm thinking bout a wrong movie)

more character development and a better sense of the boredom as well as longer periods on evading the British Destroyers

overall its just a lot better
