Off topic for sure, but I had a few pictures I thought I'd post for all of you.

Taken with a Canon Powershot G1 (and sized down toe 75% original size). No retouching, though lighting conditions were not optimal, and the 3x optical zoom is really not enough to do justice to the aircraft.

Oh well. Highlight for me was the spit and lancaster. Can anyone tell me what kind of aircraft the refueller one near the bottom is?

Anyone else who may have pics please post them.

Thanks for the pics. Couldn't make it.

Too bad you can't include sound. The Lanc flypast is awesome. Rumbles you from top to toes.

Looks like it was a good show. I wish we could get that kind of turnout for the Abbotsford Airshow here in BC. Thanks for the pics

Nice, although a little cropping might have helped the 56k'ers. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Actually, last Thursday I almost crapped myself thinking I was going to be blasted out of my car from a tactical nuke only to find that the Snowbirds were doing a practice formation over my head in preparation for an airshow at the CNE in Toronto.

Luckily, they made two passes and I got a better glimpse the second round. Not sure what the smaller birds were but the big single jet was a CF-18 if I'm not mistaken. It was like they were glued in formation. Impressive to say the least.

Saw the CF 18 buzzing around Ottawa...pretty cool.

Seen Potter's Spit before. Love that bird.

Didn't see the others though, so thanks for the photos.

Next year, I'm there...

I fly for WestJet and just happened to be in Ottawa last saturday morning and got to enjoy an impromptu air show standing half way out the window of my 737 while parked at the gate. It definately made my day!!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Thanks Jesenpark!!
It's by far the best airline i've ever worked for. And the public support we get is very gratifying and a breath of fresh air compared to the other side i used to work for../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
Talking about lucky day, how about landing in Hamilton and being asked by tower to hold short of runway 24 for an aircraft on a touch and go. The aircraft in question....none other then the lancaster pictured above!!
That was a beautiful site!

Funny that screaming kids can be heard over those jets. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The vid gave me a flashback though of when I saw the two snowbirds crash at the CNE in '90, for some reason. A sad day that was but I digress...

Seeing those planes really brought back some sweet memories of playing Red Baron /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif . I remember that the Fokker was the most maneuverable plane in the game, while the S.E.5a was the fastest.

Great pics...I saw the Lanc and B-25 Mitchell flying in formation just above my house a couple days before the CNE airshow on their way to the HMCS Hyda (right spelling?) ceremonies at the Hamilton harborfront. Its great looking out the window and seeing these guys fly past...there is no sound like it.

disgraceful they moved the HMCS Haida to Hamilton...Sheila Copps is one of the biggest opponents of our military and she has the gall to move our most storied WW2 ship to her riding...

Yes the Haida was cool. You could go on a self guided tour for a buck and even get into the bowl of the ship.

The thing is it was in bad shape and the hull was rusting out. At least it is goin where it will be looked after.

Same as the old Lanc and the tank they had on the lake shore there for years. They are gone too (the Lanc is in Owen Sound I think).

What was once a nice little war memorial is now prime real estate.
