Sort of a stupid question here...

Of the campaigns available with the game (using 3.02b), is there upgrades of aircraft as they become available? For example, I cannot seem to find a campaign with the Corsair. Do I have to complete missions in the Wildcat and then I will transition to the Corsair?

Also, in the Readme it mentions that in the USAAF campaign we can use the P-38 in Japan 1945, but I only seem to have access to the P-51.

What am I missing here? Thanks in advance for your help guys (and gals), and happy holidays!

Ian

You have to select the different aircraft to fly during different phases of the campaign. If you click on the aircraft name in the campaign selection window, you will get a drop-down list to select different aircraft when they become available. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

There are lots of simple mods that can be made to make more types of plane available too. You can go into the Dgen folder and find and modify the files called planes***.dat, where *** is the nationality and also identifies bomber vs. fighter and location of campaigns. For example planesUM1.dat is the plane selection file for Pacific U.S. Marines campaign. And planesRuF.dat is the Russian fighter campaign. It lists the subcampaigns and the planes available for each. Many planes are missing from these files and you can make a lot more planes selectable for when you start a career. My planesRuF.dat ( part of it ) file looks like this when opened in notepad editor:
[Lvov41]

I added the Lagg model 29 and 35 which are not in there by default, so now I can fly a campaign in them. Also you can change planes in the middle of a subcampaign so you don't have to wait for the next subcampaign to start. All you have to do is browse to the Missions folder, then go to the Campaign folder to find the nationality for your campaign and then the folder for the actual campaign. You'll find a file called 'status.dat' that looks like this:

The plane on the fourth line can be changed and if you do, you will still have to fly one more sortie in your old aircraft but then after it will change to the new plane. You also have to open it in notepad ( never use wordpad ) and you also have to use the proper internal game engine name for each aircraft. For example, if you type Me-109F2, it wouldn't work, since the proper game internal name is BF_109F2. They have to be typed in perfectly or they don't work.
Here is the list of all the planes in the game as of today:

( Also please note that some planes will not work in Dgen campaign even though they are flyable in QMB or FMB, such as the Me-163, Go-229, BI-1, Mistels and the SPB and it's drones. There are a few more too. )
