I was ordered to patrol grid CJ73 i think (cant' remember well, anyway in north atlantic near newfoundland), when at the half of my trip there i realized that going there and coming back straight would have used more than my fuel reserve... that is weird... i've read other posts of some complaining about not enough fuel to reach south africa with a IX...

So... i usually don't quit in the middle of the ocean, like to manage my fuel to come back,too... but this time...

BUG? What do you guys do in this cases?

And another question: when you guys die, you start a new career? Or just load last save? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks, pals

If you cruise with 7 knots you can get there and back with ease....twice!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have a VIIB that I've done 17patrols on now. I haven't seen a lack of fuel, really- I just go slow. All ahead standard burns lots of fuel- I never use this setting unless I'm chasing someone. Just use slow or 1/3rd and you'll have plenty. btw to answer your other question I will start a new career if/when I get killed. I'm in Dec41 and it's getting tougher every patrol- every merchant has a deck gun now..

Yes, just go slow. I was able to spend several weeks patrolling off of Florida in my XIB by crossing the Atlantic on slow speed (and burning through my textbooks during the long ocean voyage). A VIIB should have enough fuel to reach your patrol destination.

I play DID style - "Dead If Dead." My biggest complaint early in the game was that I was racking up 300,000 tons when Silent Otto was still at the 150,000 ton mark, even on 100% realism. The best way to fix this was to start over when killed. You don't rack up nearly as many tonnage points and you're much more cautious as well. It's harder to sink ships when you don't go charging into a task force at flank speed on the surface!

You're right boys i play like that too... Dead if Dead. Really challenging... REalism 85%, can't stand the moving periscope....
