Howdy, Does any1 think we need catapults for CVs? Some of the CVs have catapults(Essex-class carrier HMS Victorious I think) but their for show, and what about emergancy landing nets their on the jap CVs but there for show too.

I think maybe it too big an ask as the game engine is now a little long in the tooth.

Maybe in SoW?

Maybe we'll get CAM launch first.

When did catapult launch come in?

I still think it would be nice especialy when playing online in dogfight maps where CVs dont moving and a catapult is needed.

They started playing with Hydralic (sp) catapults in on carriers in 1934 but ship board scout seaplanes were catapulted a little time before that previously they were lowered into the sea and had to take off from there(not good in anything but very light seas)

I think the hydralic catapult was used up until just after the Korean war

Someone a few years back had setup a FMB mission that faked a CAM launch from one of the ships in the game. He had adjusted the plane just above the deck with an air start and it was pretty close to having a ship launched aircraft. But time for landing was just like the CAM ships... time to make sure you can swim. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

ah ya..played that one...it was all routine.

incomming Fw200

expend all ammo
ram trying to preserve enough of your own plane to be able to ditch it.

same thing the next time.

Some aircraft seem to only successfully get off the deck with AI in control with a stationary carrier http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I tried writing a Sea Gladiator slow moving carrier mission once thinking the Gladiator should manage it but gave it up because whilst AI could get off the deck it was a pretty big ask for a human pilot.
