G'day & ~S~ Crazy Ivan,

Mate, as you know nVidia card users who want to fly with Landscap Detail = Perfect are getting missing aircraft panels on any nVidia driver after v66.93
We'd like to utilise the better performance of the newer nVidia drivers but not at the expense of fighting against Wonder Woman a/c.
(And I'm sure a few people would like to play newer games like BF2 also - but can't because IL2 FB is their primary game)

nVidia have released quite a lot of drivers since 66.93 and all of them have the missing panel problem when using Perfect mode, so it would seem that they have no idea that this problem exists.

A lot of us have posted in nVidia forums and sent fault reports via card manufacturers (due to nVidia not allowing direct reporting from punters like us), but we have no feedback and do not know if they are even aware of this issue.

I seem to recall that we had a similar issue last year with graphics problems with nVidia drivers after a new version of IL2 FB, and I believe that 1c had to liase with nVidia in order for them to address the issue?

My questions is: Can anbody at 1c help to get this issue made visible and a high priority allocated with nVidia to resolve this long standing problem?
If you guys have a direct line into the nVidia driver developers, would you mind getting out the glove puppets and telling them what they should do to resolve this problem please (although in a more diplomatic way perhaps)
It is affecting a LOT of their customers.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much Mate & ~S~

Good day Bollox,
Maddox team is aware of the issue, just like yourself, i am hoping that between them and nVidia they will figure something out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Bolloxs,

While I agree with all of your points, well not quite as we shall see, be advised that some of the earlier 7x.xx series do work ok on PF. I'm runnning 71.84 with no problems. But, I still cannot play newer games at full settings.

Another thing to remember, we most assuredly do not represent a lot of Nvidia's customer base, we are not even close to representing a large number of customers. It really puts us at quite a disadvantage compared to the say, the 4000+ servers hosting BF2 every day.

Rather sobering actually.

Thanks for the reply C.I. & ElA

I'm going to sit here and give nVidia the frowning of a lifetime until they issue a new driver with the fix.

I have a GF 6600gt with similiar issues. I corrrected the issue by selecting 'OpenGL' during the initial setup of the game instead of the listed 'GeForce' options. I am running the 7184 drivers.

I'm using a later driver with everything maxed out (except for perfect-online) and have no issues at all. But I haven't put more than the time it took to configure BF2 either.

I opt for the birdnerd aspect of my geekiness.

After much Driver testing here are my results:

77.77 DRIVERS
Still have the missing Texture issue with many aeroplanes.
Low level flying Terrain stutter is however fixed.

77.76 DRIVERS
Still have the missing Texture issue with many aeroplanes.
Low level flying Terrain stutter is however fixed.

71.89 Drivers
All textures are normal... No problems
Low Flying terrain stutter is present.

71.25 Drivers
Textures Normal
No Terrain stutter in low level flight
71.25 Drivers are for me the latest drivers acceptable to me for IL2/FB/PF use.

66.93 Drivers
Textures Normal
No Terrain stutter in low level flight
66.93 Drivers are ok for me for IL2/FB/PF use.

So It would seem whatever changes were made between 77.76 and 71.89 caused the Low level terrain stutters. And whatever changes were made between 71.25 and 77.76 cause the Texture transparency issues.

I am using 71.25 at the moment.
(Passed on to Maddox ganes)

Looking forward to the resolution of this issue. Realing spoiling PF for me. Using 77.72 - however PF 3.04 worked ok with recent NV drivers. PF is the only game affected by this issue on my computer.

Make this sticky please so people know that Maddox Team and Nvidia are aware and working towards a solution!

I confirm all of the above in my setup, except for 71.25 which I didn't test. Running a xfx 6800gt agp.
