Hi again I am wondering if you are playing the game on the easiest of settings of realism does this affect your renown due to me starting mission 50 and have only achieved 600 points although I occasionally dip into the pot to upgrade my boat, and still am at a junior captain level.Feeling a bit disheartened cos its now 1943 and doesnt give me much time to make admiral

Yes, it does affect renown amount. Try playing it on higher diff. settings. I usually have only "weapon officer assistance" unchechked thus giving my 94% realism...You get pretty much renown on this settings if u manage to sink larger merchants or capital ships...

h8218122, please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to brag OR put you down. Methinks you should REALLY crank up the realism. For instance, turn on "no event cam" "no stealth meter" "limited compressed air" "limited O2" and if you like "limited fuel". That should give you a below-average, but decent renown. When you feel more comfortable, disable "weapon officer assistance" and "map contact updates". And if you really got your basics down, enable "automatic targeting". I have everything but external cam turned on. That way, I started the war on the first day, now I am in winter 1942, changed 3 boats with upgrades, and I still have close to 40,000 renown http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Enough for the XXI and a few acoustic eels, if they were available. So yea, you might want to consider upping the realism

I have everything on but weapon officer assistance when in a type 7. Then in type 9c and later I turn off the weapon officer because there are more torpedos for me to suck at hitting things with :P

Without the exterior cam and without the event viewer it really feels like a different game. especialy when you are dodging depth charges and sitting in the command room giving orders and feeling them rock the ship and such while being completly blind.

Does lowering realism settings affect renown

It sure does. I also recommend raising your realism level. Not only will you get more renown, but you might get more enjoyment out of the game (and certainly more satisfaction when you make a kill). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
