View Full Version : NVidia == cheat

Just FYI. Two hours ago I switched from ATI to NV. Dots are now visible, like they used to, in the beforetime.

Even checked the problematic UK Dedicated 1 server - and had no problems seeing dots! 3 hours ago I couldn't see seafires from 500-600 meters distance.

I still need to fix forests, they seem to flicker, probably anti-aliasing related... but anyways: NV is the new trackhat-on-slider.

I thought that it is value in il2 config. Setting antialiasing even x16 in nvidia control panel didnt eliminate flickering in my game :/

There is a big difference when you have two 7950 GT's in SLI. That and using a 32" Hi-Def monitor . ROFLCOPTER http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Well I say this referring to default settings. A better card does allow for better dot visibility but has nothing to do with the company. Now I do see stuff better but because I run 4xAA w/supersampling and 8xAF. So naturally things will look better.

My initial post was directed at the Nvidia card=cheat. Each time you upgrade your pc IL-2 will seem a different game visually. But it doesnt matter what company makes it.

Right now Im loving the IQ with my Intel Core2Duo 6400 and my 7950GT. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif So stop putting off that upgrade faustnik.

dots are dots you can either see them or you can not. With better hardware the dot distance doesnt increase (unless perhaps you had a total pos pc) but the distance in which you can make out what model of plane does. This is do to the fact that better hardware allows for better IQ possibilities like more AA and AF and higher resolutions, ect. Trust me you are not seeing a huge difference in this sim with SLI then you would with 1 card. This engine does not take advantage of SLI. You may see a little increase in FPS but your IQ stays the same. And everyone knows CRTs have better IQ over the LCD jobs. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Some, on the other hand, you can see from like really far away like Bf-109, Ju-88 or LA-5 fat dots but some have thiner dots.

ATI X800 series card here, and 20 inch LCd monitor, and I don't have any trouble seeing dots at all.

I bet I can see some dots out to 7-8 kilometers away, and if I am on a icons server, I can usually ID aircraft long before the limited icons show up.

I run all default settings for the card.

My brother installed 1946 the other day and he has a X800Pro.

It looked more beatiful than on my Geforce 5900 Ultra (Better SHader 2.0 supprt) and I could see planes just as well.

In fact hes giving me the card when he upgrades (within the next month), so I will know better then.

Just faster IMHO

On that note.. the 7950 is allready in SLI mode! In that it has two nvid chips on one card.. I did not know you could SLI that further? If so.. than Ill have to look into picking up a second 7950 in the future!

Correctamundo. Has something to do with ATI driver settings or something, I'm past caring since everything works now.
