A close run thing.

I read it carefully, but I did not notice who the final topping up of 500000 donation came from. Did it mention it, and I missed it?

Truly great stuff. Apparently about 750k pledged from many, many individuals and 500k from a "great British philanthropist" over the past week or so.

Well done, sir, whomever you may be, and great to see so much support from the public at large.

One in the eye for an establishment who despise our heritage http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Can't wait to see the old gal displaying next year and will certainly make every effort to do so!

Great! I was hoping it wouldn't get the can: they were great planes, a relic of an age before the Politicians murdered the British warplane industry.

Just saw it on BBC news... the major donator hasn't been named, but its such a great result.. I can still remember these aircraft passing over my house when I was a lad.. along with Victor B2's and Lightnings.. So LOUD!! and low!..

Regards.. Dave S.

a relic of an age before the Politicians murdered the British warplane industry.

Agreed; murdered British aviation full stop!

Now we just need to borrow a couple of Lightnings and a Buccaneer from Thunder City in SA and we'd have a working Cold War display. I'd pay good money to see that..

And a reminder of what it's all about. Queen of the skies.

Awesome plane - still one of my favourites.

I had the chance to see one from very close in a Scottish museum during my vacation in the highlands. I wasn't allowed to climb inside, but that's about all I didn't http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Took about 30 photos and ruined my shirt with hydraulics fluid. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

fantastic news!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I remember 558 when she was operational at RAF Waddington in the early 80's.

A full multi-Squadron scramble was an impressive sight indeed!

If you ever know the name of the donator make me know, too. He's in my list of: "People I wouldn't mind to kiss hir/her butt". http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

1st in the list: Keira Knightley. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif
