I've been wanting to ask this question for a long time...

But why isn't Ezio Auditore di Firenze missing any fingers?

welcome to the forums Jel44,

just a tip, please you the search function next time ,
also know as "find" on the tool bar

and concerning he's finger,
chances it's a new mechanism so it won't slice people's fingers.

or as i think,
this ritual is not in place anymore,
the ritual as the one when you reached a certin ranked you get a hidden blade in sacaface

It can't be a new mechanism because in AC 1 the girl also had a finger missing (And it was present day) It wouldn't make any sense >:/

*sigh* Her finger was not missing. It was simply folded down to show that she was Desmond's ally. -_-'

I actually like it to be like that.
Why would you want him to be missing fingers? It will make him weak and that too would be a negative point for the game. Cos he wouldn't be powerful enough to attack other enemies.

Or maybe he just hasn't messed up yet and chopped off his finger(s) yet. Also, if it is a ritual, chances are he's not a master assassin yet like Altair was.

Well that is true Ezio is a total novice rite now. And in this one Leonardo probably doesn't have his off either even though he's an elder assassin

True but if Ezio really is a novice (or some other rank) I guess it wouldn't really matter if that rule is there or not anymore. :P

First of all, Leonardo made the hidden no so when it activated, it moved slightly away form the Palm of his hand
Because in the trailer you see he snaps his wrist backwards for it activate,

I think that back in the 11th Century, the initiation rite is: You have to make your own hidden blad, then you pass.

That explains why none of the other assassins have their ring fingers cut off, as thir mechanism is different from Altairs.

It explains why Altairs mechanism is different, because he was the youngest Assassin to recieve the master assassin order.

IF you guys saw that Jade Raymen (sp) dev diary when she explains everything.
at some parts you see something that seems like a finger inside this things and mechnaism around and then a clip....

just like thoese things that cut the end of cuben cigars to make them smoke about..
but putting your finger in insted of a cigar

another reason why he's not missing a finger is because back when altair was an assassin, back in the crusades, the assassins were monks (or very religous) and because of this they did not marry and had the ring finger cut off to show they wouldn't marry. Then during the renaissance, ezio's time, the assassins aren't monks or that religous any more and gave up the tradition. (i think so any ways)
