Off topic but I know some of us are into racing sims as well as IL-2. Most of the racing sims I€ve tried before were either too arcade or had poor graphics. Introducing FIA GTR. This sim has been dubbed as the most realistic driving simulator ever made. I've never driven a race car before but this seems to be as close as you can get. The feel of the cars are amazing. I actually purchased a Momo force feedback steering wheel and pedals for this game. This is the first piece of non flight sim related gear I've ever bought! The game has a functioning MOTEC data interpreter for accurate telemetry. There are a variety of tracks throughout Europe and also an add on set of US ovals for those that like to drive in circles. I selected full simulation to start off. After all I fly FW's. I must have destroyed billions of dollars worth of race cars in the first thirty minutes. I had to start off in advanced level and then work my way up. I've been driving more than flying lately. If you like racing sims then give this one a try you won't be disappointed. They are also working on GT legends where you drive classic racing cars. I can't wait! I will never give up flying but this is a fun game when I'm in the mood for something different. Here is the game web page: http://www.10tacle.com/gtr-game/

some people have never had one single running issue with GTR

others cant even get to the menu screen

my PC had a horrible time a few weeks back leading to a XP re-install , i dont think StarForce has any redeeming qualities & if you want GTR , your best to run it cracked

as i will run any other game that comes StarForce equipped

I've had no problems so far. I like the auto patching feature too. I wish IL-2 had this.

those issues aside , GTR has introduced a higher level of realisim than any previous "modern-era" race sim

Live-Track , the AI

to think this game is the project of a group of modders . it has issues , which hopefully GTR-2 wont have

btw - i wish the Mclaren moddlers would pull finger , she looks awesome : )

GT legends looks good too. I hope it has same level of realisim that GTR has. The video clip looked really good. GTR is the first racing sim that I actually like. The sound is amazing.

GTR has been out since feburary m8 : ) , cant say that GTL is really me , i like downforce : )

GTL is using a part of the next-gen ISI game engine (the graphics mode) & the custom tracks wont port to GTL

currently there is about 105 3rd party tracks available , GTL add-on makers will have to start from scratch to get new content into GTL

some new stuff in the works is yet to be released , like the mclaren , there is the "BelCar" mod that will bring in afew new cars as well as a new Maserati Mc12 , Aston DBR9 , modern Mini cup - all of which will still get released to GTR hopefully .this is the 917K that been in the works for GTR :

http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/5568/917k01261ph.th.jpg (http://img192.imageshack.us/my.php?image=917k01261ph.jpg)

theres a few new cars already out , none so far match the stock cars for RL accuracy , well apart from the 70's capri add-on

(GTR has been out since feburary m8)
That shows how long I've been off racing sims. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif It's new stuff to me.
The 917 would be nice. I've loved that car ever since I saw the Steve McQueen movie Le Mans.

it will be a heap like the GTL cars

loads of speed , cr4p brakes & no downforce

high corner speeds are fun , low grip & no downforce isnt

heres hoping GTR-2 makes it in time for Christmas (dont count on it lol) & isnt buggy like GTR is
(i.e. they drop StarForce)

if you have a stable game without problems , your in the minority

I picked up the Momo wheel froma Amazon for $94.00. I thought it would be cheap but it turned out to be nice! It's huge and the wheel has a rubber cover. The sidewinder should be a good wheel though. Oh ****! My boss just walked in. Look busy now.

A steering wheel with pedals is mandatory for this one beleive me. You need to be able to ride the brakes on some of the tracks so pedals would be a good idea. You won't be sorry. The game supports Track IR with 6 DOF Vector Expansion.

I have this one. You can uscrew the bottom bracket to fit smaller desks or leave the bracket on if you have a larger mounting area.

There was a video with 6DOF was shown in action, IIRC it was on the NaturalPoint site. Been a while, though.

I've had GTR for a while now, it works perfectly on my pc. I'll be getting GT legends when it comes out, because I like the older cars that don't stick so well to the road. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I started racing on my pc with Indycar Racing and went through Indycar Racing 2, Nascar Racing 1, 2, 3, and 4, Nascar Legends, Nascar Racing 2002 and 2003, Sportscar GT, Grand Prix, GP 2, GP 4, Grand Prix Legends and now GTR.

Grand Prix Legends and GTR are the two best by far in my opinion, GTR being super realistic and GPL being extremely hard but ultimately the most satifying once you finally learn to stay on the track while going fast.

Here's custom GPL skin I made for the Honda

some of the fastest online racers use a Joystick

Joysticks used for car racing sims offer the same precision that a wheel can , but a Joystick can be whipped side to side a tad eaiser than most wheels can be turned lock to lock

i used to only play racing games with a D-pad , GTR made me take up using a Wheel

i have the cheap but excellent Logitech Driving Force PRO

CMR 05 is eaisly the best CMR , its a "easy fun" rally game

RBR is a rally sim , i have issues with RBR relating to its difficulty . it has a proper DM in RBR , but RBR penalises moreso than real life does when you start getting your speed up , the screen speed could do to be faster to show you better that the game considers you to be travelling fast , but all in all its the most detailed Rally Sim ever
get the PC version
i have yet to try Xpand Rally

if you thought TRD1 was good then TRD-2 is much much better , just that you want to edit the PC version the same way you wanted to alter TRD-1 , i.e. 20% more weight for all cars

TRD-3 is being made ready for the x-360 , its going to be a huge game with masses of classes & what looks like a complex DM , it has much to improve on in the handeling physics compared to what TRD1 & 2 are like

here are some TRD-3 screenshots , it looks amazing

they are screenshots of toca3 haddock how the game will look. I had toca and toca rcd2 both were very good for thier time but its more of a grandturismo racing game which is not as realistic as GTR.

Ill gte both i like racing sims and finally dusted off the microsoft sidewinder ffb wheel. My favorite racing sims use to be NFS HS till NFS porshe unlimited everything after that stunk. EA motor city online was fantastic but they had to ruin it with pay to play and the game was canceled in under a year.

Nice screenies.Although I never liked the TOCA graphic engine. It appears to be matt, heheh.
Anyway I was kinda shocked when TRD1 ran smoothly on my PC,then the sequel too. Both engines satisfied me and I could actually race with 10+ other cars on the track and that was just great!

What I like the most about TRD is DM.Most advanced I`ve ever seen.Crashing your car and being careful not to is THE kind of car sim I was always looking for.Speaking of DM I cannot forgive NFS creators that they got rid of cockpit views and DM.Really pathetic.

Oh yeah, the models are from the game, of course, but the lighting has nothing to do with the true game lighting. And that's not even counting the added particle effects, photoshop editing etc. Look, I've seen the guy working on them with my own eyes.

Megile i race mainly at Spa , even tho i got like 106 tracks , if you find it grab Zolder & Watkins Glen - both those tracks make for great races

the record for Spa at the various GTR rank sites are all in the 2.08.xx minute range

thats in Sim mode with only Auto-Clutch enabled

my best so far around Spa is a 2.13.7 using the Saleen(fastest Hot-Lapper in the game along with the Ferrari 550)

Saleen has massive Downforce & the Ferrari is just plain fast (& tail happy) but i have liked the Lister ever since it first appeared , the Saleen & the F550 are both worth 1 second per lap minimum over all other cars in GTR

the Macca is hopefully going to make it to GTR as well - hopefully that is as its been delayed for ages already so far

Been racing GPL since the pyramids were finished. Got GTR as soon as it hit the shelves and have been loving it. Is GTL the same GTL we saw for years as a development in progress on the RSC site (where I get my GPL gems)? Well, not the SAME . . . you know what I mean . . .
