On the 16th August 2005 the Science Museum (I'm an employee there) will be opening a new gallery called "Spitfire" and is part of the ingeneous series of exhibits held here. Not sure yet what the galley will contain other than a disembled Mk 22(currently being restored) that is on loan to us from Duxford. Admission to the Science museum is free and it's open from 10.00 till 18.00 7 days a week. If it's of interest come and visit.

Don't know where you are geographically Megile. If you live outside of London it would be best to get a train, that way you don't have to worry about parking which is virtually impossible. I can have a sneek look at the gallery and give you some idea of what else is there if you like.

Quite a drive for me too...there's a small pond called the Atlantic in the way. They haven't built a bridge over it yet...

Regretfully I realized it was going to be a problem for most of you and that it would be limited to those in an around the London area.

My colleague has been working on some old footage of films made during wartime about Spitfire assembly, rearming, and maintenance etc. Also we have some Luftwaffe gun cam footage (Gerhard Schopfel,109F) on the demise of a Spitfire, this stuff is running on large plasmas in the gallery. I'll give an update of what else is there when I've had a proper look.
