In my head I know George W. Bush will be dead some day too. And Saddam Hussein is dead allready for sure. But what's the clue? We are not going to argue, who of them commited more crimes and is responsible for more death around the world, are we? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Wow! .......Wilhelm makes a one line observation, and we're already talking about "crimes and deaths".

In the interest of not having VG close the thread, why don't we shy away from that particular argument. ......Besides, how many Major World Leaders have there been who didn't have enemies accusing them of "crimes and deaths"???? (I can count them on one hand.)

Here in the U.S., we have been fairly close to (...and party to) the "Cuban Problem": .....But after almost 50 years, we are, if nothing else, fairly familiar with Fidel.

While his ideology has traditionally been hostile to the U.S., (and some of his reasons are certainly real) those of us who try to see things from other viewpoints realize that Fidel has his strong points: ...First off, he has certainly stuck to his principles; even after his patron (the former Soviet Union) folded up business, Fidel has not altered his positions: ...He is dedicated to his political beliefs. ....Some call that silly, others call it determination, but only history will decide.

Secondly, he has also never been accused of living in lavish luxury at the expense of his people: .....That means much in a world where the first act of the average "Petty Dictator" is to loot his own treasury!

Personally, I think the whole Cuba U.S. "thing" if very much like a 3:00 A.M. bar fight: ............Neither party can remember what the original "beef" was! It's time to shake hands and move on.

Very well said, klcaroll. I also try to remember that nothing is plain white or plain black. That's why I was so surprised but the opening post announcing somebody's death with a smiley attached... That forum is certainly not a place for such threads, I think.

I know WilhelmSchulz. is a host here and he is probably allowed to do more than any of the certain users, but I hope it doesn't mean one is not allowed to tell he dislikes such threads.

Politics should be kept very far from our game - THAT'S ALL I WANTED TO SAY POSTING IN THIS THREAD. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Pax, pax, pax!

I agree completly with Klcarroll.

I somehow like Fidel and I planned to visit Cuba this or next year, but I better be very fast.
Once Fidel is gone the "socialist utopia" will vanish rather fast and Cuba will become just another Puertorico.

Don't get the idea that WS or any other forum member are above the rules. Some of us may be old hands here, but we are all subject to the rules.

He's already set everything up so his brother will take over, god knows what will happen during his reign.

Well, .....Raul isn't Fidel:

He has been in charge of the Cuban Military for some time now, and that seems to have contributed to his reputation for being somewhat more pragmatic than his brother.

In spite of that reputation, we shouldn't expect major changes from him: ....at least in the short term: He has to consolidate his power, and make sure of who his friends are:

Personally, I don't envy the position he finds himself in.

I only hope that he doesn't cling to the 1980s kind of doctrine that Fidel did (does).

Fidel dead Eh...!
Can we have his body to bury in Westminster Abbey?
Maybe we can give you this Queen of ours whose uncle after all was involved with Hitler!
They discussed the best way that the UK was to be run when Germany won the War!
As my old Dad used to say of those on either side in The American War of Independance who swopped sides..."nobody likes a turncoat, those they betray and those they defect to."
Kurtz.

After Castro dies, lets assasinate his brother, then Cuban Cigars will be legal in the US finally. Then we need to step it up a notch to legalize Ganja next http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Castro appeared once again in TV today to proof he is alive. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

So it was just another rumour. And not that alone ...

He looks much better than last time when you saw him walking slowly and shakey through the hospital.

It looks like he is slowly recovering. His face had color again and the dark rings around his eyes are away. He also doesnt looked as tired as last time.
