On the forum they say there will be new video(s) in a few days. Those are quite old.

Not that I'm advocating the game, mind you. This shouldn't be here, least of all in PF forum.

As far as screens go theres a slew of them on BoB forum now ,the pics look great ! the sky was done well along with the water . cockpits are well done and imo better than IL2 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif and lets dont talk about correct engine sounds , I can't wait to hear all those Merlins prowling the Channel looking for the Luftwaffe . Scott also added in another post , that they are looking at fixing the multiplayer code after this kicks off .

No sorry mate.

It was the Aussies that won the battle of britain, not to mention the rest of the war.

Heck when the enemy saw how we took the p1ss out of the english and americans they had no choice but to love us.

In doing so, they threw down their arms and said. Aussies are so great. We have to be on their team.

So, say thank you America and GB. Our Aussie charm and wit and consumption of alcohol made your women pregnant and your enemy adore us.

You owe us one ;-)

Good job TV was off the air during the war. a couple of episodes of "Neighbours" transmitted to the Reich, we'd still be fighting now...

Did someone mention there are no flyable level bombers, if so I'd like to emphasize the point.

JunkoIfurita

It's a re-conditioned version of the original Rowan's Battle of Britain. There's no new content (i.e. no level bombers, as the original had none), just a strongly revised set of content from the original.

Nevertheless, for offline play it'll be good fun. The dynamic campaign is a **** sight more interesting than our default one (although, I'd say they'd have to work pretty hard to be half as good as some of the static campaigns that this community has built).

The graphics are nicely updated (in some ways: in others it's a little dated), particularly in the truly 3D cockpits - allowing for proper TrackIR support.

It's a one-off - Shockwave won't be doing any expansions because, after all, they weren't 'expanding' on the original anyway, just updating it.

I say it's worth picking up - by no means will it stop anyone from getting Oleg's BoB when it's released, but there's no reason not to give it a go for a bit of a change in offline play.

Plus - up the mighty Spit Mk1!

wont buy it

engine sounds are nice, so are clickable cockpit, flight dynamics including yaw are off. i didnt like how the pilot didnt reduce prop pitch during flight and as he lessened his climb. quiet a few of the sounds seem like they came from MSFS (flaps down), and some sounds seemed too loud (primer was too loud), poor landing (it was neither a wheel or a full stall landing), i didnt like the gun effects including hitting terrain, i didnt like the starting of the aircraft (too quick to turn over), i did like the engine sounds. sound audio isnt blended well enough. a canopy opening isnt that loud from the outside. i would have to look at it more through the demo.

When you throttle all the way back is that 'warning sound' the correct one for the spitfire. It's basically saying gear isnt down...i know this

If someone has a demo I can give it more of a fair rating and then decide to buy it, videos wont cut it...other wise dont buy it.

this is by far the most ridiculous post I've seen in ages! To make those assumptions from a video! You're the man!!

FritzGryphon

The dirt plumes are too big! Not buying. You have to admit, they are huge.

But seriously, I'd caution the exact opposite. Don't hyperventilate or wet yourself at the pretty things in the video, or brag about how your going to buy it before eveyone else.

Game-wise, it doesn't actually show anything. No point in singing the praises till there's a demo, or a foolish early buyer tells you how good it is.

Too much money in the world is wasted on hype. *as I put my mug down on my LOMAC coaster*

I know this type of poster. The negative, condemning, worked it all out from a 2 minute movie that shows very little, but hasn`t actually tried a demo or the sim yet. There`s also many other character types... One day I`ll do a list run of different forum character traits. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Anyway, this poster has assumed a heck of a lot, too much, to so `condemn` the sim. Funny, cos almost at the same time he admits that all his negative points aren`t worth anything until he gets a proper demo. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

And I suppose the dirt splashes not looking real enough is because youv'e all actually fired at ground targets from a WWII fighter too!

Hey?? Here's a thought...Lets try the thing, and when we can back our bland, mindless guess work up with some real facts, then we can gob it off and tell everyone how **** it is?????

If it has a cool piccy of a plane on the box I'll buy it, I bought B17II.
If it's half as good as the original Rowan's BoB was in it's day, I reckon it will be a lot of fun to play too.
The original was worth it just for the hundreds of aircraft on screen at once.
The campaign strategic side of managing Fighter Command or Luftflotte 2 was good fun too, not to mention extremely challenging.

Theres a lot more to this game than just flying, and when on full difficulty settings your battered RAF Fighter Command actually defeats the massive Luftwaffe effort, it is quite a sense of accomplishment, because it sure isnt easy to do.

Nope, this Hurricane represents a 56.Sq Hurricane.
Check 56. Squadron History (http://www.raf.mod.uk/squadrons/h56.html)

Eagle squadrons were other squadrons: No. 71, 121, and 133.
