The US torpedo bombers suffered devastating losses in the Pacific theatre. Short on production, the US sought the help of their Russian allies. In 1943 a little known Russian Lend-Lease program introduced the US forces to the IL2 AVENGOVIK. Take-off from a fast moving carrier was no problem.

Like its US counterpart, the AVENGER, it had remarkable success against the IJN, but few of its pilots lived to tell about it. (The lack of the electric gunner turret didn't help any.)

Those that did make it back to base found it easy to land in about 1/2 a CV length, even without a tailhook.

Ya know I had to laugh even at this one!!

Classic to go down in the IL-2 Records!!

Someone please quote this in your Sigs!

oLEG : "Avenger is new IL-2 be SURE but only in 2 weeks and only after we introduce full fleet status across the board for ALL Nations!" !!"
