You know, despite the magazine being so terrible where delivering content on time is concerned, when it delivers well, it does actually stay true to its word when giving out new information first.

There was one new picture...or at least a picture I hadn't seen before, and it was a full body shot of our main man Altair.

Anyway, new info:
<LI>Where the story is concerned, the game begins with the initiation. So you're as new to it all as our boy Altair. A novice. Basically, you get there just in time to say goodbye to a digit.
<LI>When you complete the game, it doesn't stop there. Downloadable missions are also available - not something I could turn down.
<LI>And, don't go thinking you're alone in everything, and that every mission results in moider. There will be missions where you work with other assassins, <STRIKE>hyjack cars</STRIKE> steal horses, pickpocket the rich people, and give to the poor. A few Olde English folk tales and cheap, crappy movies spring to mind...let's see how this fares.
<LI>Jumping is automatic. Real skill comes in manouvering Altair through streets and over rooftops without getting caught or knocked over.
<LI>realistic health system - no health bar, apparently. You also take more damage easier. Luckily, an intelligent blocking system helps you out here.

I just really hope it is a really free world, like if i am not on a mission, i better be able to crawl on the roof, open a window, and climb into a house. I stalk upon my sleeping prey, and stabit in it's sleep (it's night). Then i steal all the valuables in the house and leave the way i came. I WANNA ROB/KILL PEOPLE WHEN I WANT, not only on missions.

what do they mean with "jumping is automatic" ?
i want to jump by myself, like running and jumping a gap between two buildings. i don´t just wanna run and he jumps by himself.
thanks for the info http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
sorry for bad english.

I don't really mind if jumping is automatic or not, I guess because of the contextual controls, I think it's best that the jumping is automatic, I mean, you wouldn't just fall off a building when you can just jump onto the next roof, but then again, you wouldn't jump off a cliff and hope you reach austrailier! and again, It's about momentum, so the faster you are, the further you jump

Sounds really really promising!
Downloadable missions, that's a great feature. The pickpocketing sounds cool too.
Maybe the poor people have some interesting information for Altair and all they need is a little favour http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Glad to hear that there is no health bar. Reminds me of Call of Duty 2. Yeah I would really the free-roamhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Like someone already mentioned, the breaking into the house, killing/stealing aspect will make this game the coolest ever http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Assassin's Creed: Hot new info!
Tuesday 20-Jun-2006 2:35 PM Downloadable content and co-operative multiplayer set to feature in Ubi's medieval kill-'em-up

Ever since we saw that cracking trailer movie, we've been keeping a stealthy eye on Ubisoft's PS3 assassin-'em-up Assassin's Creed.

With a host of stealthy killing people action, clockwork gadgets and an intriguing medieval setting ((or is it? Muhahahaha - sinister Ed) , Creed could well be among the PS3's first wave of 'must have' titles, although from what we hear on the Jerusalem grape vine, Xbox 360 owners won't necessarily be disappointed either in the fullness of time.

Still, further details on the game itself have been scarcer than an assassin's glee club, until today that is, when the US Official PlayStation mag broke a couple of intriguing nuggets, which have us more than a touch excited.

First up is the news that Assassin's Creed is certain to feature downloadable content, with additional extras being made available for discerning medieval killing machines. No further details on what they are, but you can probably expect new missions, items, outfits and possibly killing methods if things run true to form.

Call us Susan and strike us down in a dark alley if it isn't the first announcement on a third-party PS3 game featuring downloadable content too, showing that Sony's PlayStation Network Platform has every intention of mimicking Xbox Live's ability to deliver episodic content.

Anyway, back to the Creed - and the second revelation OPSM drops is that the game will now feature co-operative missions, with players aiding each other in their various tasks of medieval derring do. A co-op Robin Hood-style heist involving horse thievery and coin robbery is given as an example.

One more revelation? Oh go on then. According to OPSM, we'll see the game at the beginning of 2007 over here in Europe, which we think is the first time any sort of release date's been mentioned. Marvellous! Right, we're off to 'retire' a surplus staff writer (just for practice of course).

I dont like the automatic jumping either. How are you then going to jump from a wall, jump to a wall?

I'll assume that it works that you jump automatically, and since you're already pressing X (I'll go with the theory that the faster you're running, the further you jump), and X is the leg control, it'll basically mean you work the same way as in Prince of Persia. It's just that the initial jump that changes.

I would like it if they had a similar jump feature to the prince of persia series HOWEVER, they have to change it so that you can still jump freely instead of only off of ledges.

With the controls, X is your legs. So if your coming up to a gap and hold X you'lll jump. However, if there is a pole betwwen buildings, you can run....jump... and hold/press O to swing using your arms. It also says that you have to move the charcter in one big momentum to pull good stuff. As every thing from 10/5 centimeters in game can be climed, a small step could be jumped on with the feet, or if higher, pulled up by the arms.

This is half my opinion and OPS2 uk magazine http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Perhaps jumping would be automatic in the sense of a Legend Of zelda or Hitman game where you move your character forcefully to a ledge and he automaticly jumps, we would just have to become skilled at guiding him and not attracting attention.

Breaking into someones house, stabbing people and stealing their belongings? The Hashashin are religious warriors, not gold craving, bloodthirsty barbarians.

I agree. THe Hashashin were just trying to stop war. They are not thiefs, but war assassins.
