Hi, I´m thinking to upgrade my video card. Can someone give me some advice. I´m between 9800 and X800. Doesn´t the X800 have a compatibility problem with this game? Would I have to Download an especial driver for perfect settings video mode?
My system:
Mother Intel with a 8x AGP
Microprocesor Intel 3.2
512 DDR RAM
Sound Blaster Live
FX 5600 (actual video card)
Thanks http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

X800 is better. I have the 9800 Pro and it works well in IL2. X800 would easily out perform the 9800

Indeed, the X800 outperforms any graphic card available today. However, I heard that the X800 rather is an overboosted version of the Radeon 9800 card.

Nvidia also has a new line of cards available. The TOP model is their Gforce 6800GT. If you can spare the money, I would choose for the Gforce card. It is a complete new design with some new technology in it. It is the first card wich supports pixelshader 3.0. Il-2 FB/AEP/PF supports this. You can get spectacular water when the Pixelshader 3.0 feature is enabled in PF.

The 6800GT card is somewhat slower then the X800. However, I think the 6800GT is the better choice for the 'future'. It can support all af the games on the market today but is a bit slower then the X800.

X800 without doubt... now what about that memory .. 512 is deffinitely not enough.

Upgrade to a Gig of Ram first. You may be astonished at the improvement.

Combat Flight sims are Ram memory intensive. The more ram the more performance.

You need the other stuff too, but what you've got may be quite well with more ram installed.
