Just came to me, so I thought I'd post it up.

Could some of the guys at UBI post up two or three 5 minute tracks from FB.These would be of there own choice, but obviously showing of the best planes, lighting, landscape etc., and then invite the community to create a movie from them. Each track would have an overall winner, but then these entries could be judged by the community to declare the best interpretation and overall FB movie making champ.

Of course I have no idea what prizes could be up for grabs, but I'm just sounding a suggestion off to bounce around amongst us.

Thoughts anyone?

We would be happy to run a competition at our site for this if UBI won't. We have a shed load of gear left over from our LAN Party; T-Shirts, Games etc.

Just a thought. I love the videos you guys have been making.

Good idea...to make it a bit simpler and more definitively a head-to-head contest, I'd suggest that there be only ONE track posted, as the Raw source material for the movie.... Then see how the competitors use that to produce the best movie.

I'd keep the track fairly simple, as well....that way, one competitor wouldn't be making a movie about a "far-away" engagement of Yaks and Stukas while another competitor makes one showing only a different engagement of, say, 190's and Pe-8's.... I think if the track were simple enough, the competitors' use of editing, cinematography(?),"camera/angle selection, "aging", after-effects, scene transitions, soundtrack selection, etc etc would be more the focus of the movie. The 'ground Truth' of the 'action/engagement' would be a constant...the Movies would show the variety of ways to "convey" the same "action"/"story"....

I'd also suggest a time-limit for the movies, say no more than 4 minutes or so...

Just my opinion...

I could also showcase the competing movies on my site...

I honestly don't have a lot of optimism that UBI will pick up on this idea...sorry to say, but true... They Are busy, I am sure, so maybe they will just be willing to create the "source Track" and later on offer up the Prizes..like a Free Pay Addon(in January) for each of the top three movies.

Mysticpuma...if you post this same suggestion over at Virtual War Cinema, perhaps we could coordinate such a competition there... http://www.blacksheepwebdesign.net/VirtualWarCinema/

Very interesting idea! By full support is behind it but we need Ubi or someone close to ubi to get the motivation (a.k.a. Prizes!).

Erm I offered prizes? Games from Novalogic and cdv, left over from the LAN party we ran ( we had a trial flight in a helicopter but that was won LOL)

Anyhow back on topic, if a bundle of games and some other bits on bobs is any good give me a shout.
