She carried out High speed taxi tests this morning at 95 knots raising the nose into the air, she was planned to carry out 125 knot high speed runs this afternoon and stream her chute......

The flight WILL be tomorrow unless something crops up servicablity or weather wise, we contacted Bruntingthorpe today regarding a student overflying and they confirm ok today but tomorrow is a NO NO http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Here you go:

An incredible sight at airshows back in the 70's, blots out the sun and makes the earth shake when it does a low level fly by http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It is more dangerous that it appears. I hope it goes well and no one gets hurt.

Hi all,

As an Air Cadet I sat in the cockpit of a an Operational Vulcan at Scampton.

What amazed me was that the two pilots had ejector seats but the Navigator did not http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

In an emergency, the navigator (talking ballast) had to slide his seat back on rails and jump through a hatch in the floor.

By this time of course, both pilots would be sitting in the bar and on their second pint... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Best Regards,
MB_Avro_Vulcan.

When i was a kid i lived near gibraltar and there was a vulcan parked on display next to the airport runway (which you have to drive accross when entering gibraltar) I allways wanted to see one fly. Anyone know if gibraktar airport still has a vulcan sitting there?

Those two YouTube clips....fantastic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But the sound is a poor representation of the real thing, you feel a Vulcan when it does that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Such a graceful bird.

She did a 20 minute handling flight out involving some lazy eights turns, there are 2 more flights planned from Brungtinthorpe then I believe she will be moving to Waddington to complete the rest, A hangar has already been cleared in anticipation of her arrival http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Bit of a fierce debate going on in her forums regarding the Waddington move.

Consensus, or at least opinion form one of the consultants was she would remain at Bruntinthorpe.

Leicester is just up the road from me, about 70 miles, would love to see it in person http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

There is an F-4 in a private collection that costs $9000/hour to fly. I wonder how much the Vulcan costs?

She's not a bad lookin' bird considerin' she was made by the Limey's! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I was at RAF Waddington from 1980 to 1983 and never failed to be impressed by this classic British aircraft.

I loved seeing her at airshows after I left the mob.

It will be a joy to hear every car alarm on the airshow carpark sounding again! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Aaah nostalgia http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I grew up in the Scottish Borders where the RAF did (and still do) a lot of their low-flying training - some of my earliest memories are of Vulcans flying over my home - sometimes in vics of three!

Speaking to someone from Bruntingthorpe today, he told me the plans were to carry out 3 test flights over the next few weeks to satisfy the CAA....

After that the Aircraft will be mothballed for the winter and the engines possibly inhibited at Bruntingthorpe.

The reasoning to get it flown and airworthy was some of the corporate sponsorship was dependant on her being a flier, Now this has been succesfull these funds can be reeleased.

Next spring for the display season she will be brought back online and move to RAF Waddington where a hangar has been prepped and she will operate out of there for her flying displays. Waddington having all the emergency services and Air Traffic services etc that Bruntingthorpe does not have....

I was stationed in Lincolnshire when I was in the RAF 30 years ago when the Vulcan was a more common sight, and sound, than the Cessnas and Pipers you see today.

Glad to see one machine is back in the air again.
