View Full Version : No more dive horn in JU87? How to change back?

Hey, I was doing some dive bombing missions in FB since the patch, and I noticed that I no longer could release my bombs manually while in a dive. The dive horn did not sound, and I was pulled automatically out of my dive and auto released my bombs...

Is it just me, or is this absolutely no fun at all? I really miss the old dive horn and manual release and dive recovory. How do I change this back to the old way? Thank you.

I still hear the dive horn with the 1.1 patch.

Dive horn id fine; just tested it.
Are you:
rememebring to activate the dive brakes?
Have you changed any of your sound settings since the patch?
As an aside:
The "auto release feature" in the latest patch is by far the most ACCURATE way to drop bombs in the Stuka I have seen. Just hold steady and the aircraft does the rest!

Hmm, well I am flying in the FB Lenningrad campaign (with whatever model JU87 that campaign uses), for what that is worth.

I will activate my dive break, then dive towards my target. However, at some point in my dive (maybe even the point where the old dive horn sounded), I automatically pull out from my dive and my bombs are released... All without me either hearing the dive horn or me pressing the release bombs button!

I used to hear a horn when I was supposed to press the button. I no longer hear the horn and I am no longer the one to release my bombs...

I'm disappointed with the Ju87's siren.I wished they could have sampled the original sound. That could be a proper house scarer wwith the volume turned up!!

Set the auto-pull-up altitude with the "decrease/increase bomb altitude" controls

"-When in doubt, empty your magazine.
-Never share a foxhole with anyone braver than you are.
-Never forget that your weapon was made by the lowest bidder.
-If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush.
-No plan survives the first contact intact.
-All 5 second grenade fuses burn down in 3 seconds." Excerpt from Murphy's Laws

i like it now since bombing is more easy with automatic pull up. but the sound well its not as good as pre-patch

Of course automatic bomb release and pull up in a Stuka is how they really were. I typically drop my bombs long before it pulls up anyway though.

On another note though how do you get the bombsight crosshairs to center so you can see them? I've been bombing with the nose of the aircraft, and using machineguns to spot where they'll hit.

What controls do I use for auto release and pull up? This is new to me. I'd appreciate it if someone could walk me through setting it up.

The sound is completely identical for me as the first time the Stuka was added to the game in a patch.

IMHO the sound is a very good presentation of the original!

Ok, thanks everybody... But... Is there any way I can just "turn off" the new autodive feature alltogether?

First of all to -Hopperfly22- press "shift+F1" to bring your gunsight in front of you, you're in flying mode. If you press the "airbrakes" the " auto-dive " feature kicks in and you have no control, tried it different ways:
-can dive without brakes and manual release, works fine
-with airbrakes no control, takes over control of aircraft
-solution= just use combat flaps.

someone has to come up with a solution, you can't just change some .ini file somewhere, this needs to be addressed.

Lower the contact altimeter setting to zero metres?

It has been addressed, previous modelling was off, the current modelling is correct.
As suggested in the message above you can also set the altimeter release to 0 metres and still use airbrakes and manual release - easy fix.
