I've enjoyed watching the movies, I've enjoyed making the movies, and EVERY TIME I learn some new technique. I wish UBI would make a forum just for Movies [heck, mission builders and skinners got one /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ]

i whole hartedly agree.

moviemaking has really taken off in the past few months. It would be great if there was a place to go for help/ideas. The wealth of knowledge on the subject could be shared much better if there was a forum dedicated to it.
tips, tricks, hints. on camera work, encoding methods, bitrates. talk about capture programs(fraps etc.) Editing(virtualdub, moviemaker), the list goes on and on, tons of ideas/help could be shared.

Being one of the first IL2 movie makers I support this idea 100%. It was hard to find information on techniques and methods 6 months ago but within this forum (after much searching) many tips helped refine my movie making to give everyone a better quality movie!

I request also to have an IL2 movie forum!

S! Gents,

Making Movies is not hard to do at all. Look at our site http://www.vmf513.com. I made these movies with Camtasia and adobe premiere. Of course there are other ways you can do it. If anyone would likea tutorial on how to do it just contact me at boyington214@cox.net. Id be very happy to teach.

Movie making is an artform that I learned from a good friend of mine who flies IL-2 and then CFS2. The Movies you will see on our combat footage page was for CFS2. I dont have any movies yet for IL-2 because I personally am trying to find a way to convert the .ntrk information to .avi format. It is encoded in a different way so I have to find other means. I have posted a question to Oleg about this in Olegs area but since then I have not had a response.

Camtasia is a screencapture program that captures full motion video. Adobe Priemeire allows you to add things such as music and other effects to it to make videos. I like both programs because they are easy and simple to use. I made all but one of our combat videos. If you need understanding on how to make a .wvx playlist I can assist you in that as well. A .wvx format is a format that you can use so that no one can go to your site and download the movies. I use it for simplicity as well as security and it seems to work out perfect fro our applications.

So if you care to find me on msn messenger at lordinvictus@hotmail.com and I can explain the fundamentals of making videos.

S! I wish all of you the best

Thanks for the endorsement Wags. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I love the movies, I've been to Hauptman's site, for movie recommendations. JG54 has produced some classics, DaVinci, Milo and many, many others have made good movies. I've made two myself, and I've loved hearing the "Critiques" [i.e. here's how you solve that FRAP jerkiness] without the "Criticism" [i.e. that sux dewd]

Finding the info/movies/suggestions with the search engine is darn near impossible after a couple of days. Having our own forum would give a common location for movie makers and movie watchers to find and help each other.

A Forum for this really sounds interesting.

But I think its too bad that the search function on the UBI forum is slow and buggy.

A good homepage about this would be nice, but not as interactive as a forum.

So what the heck, why not?

I would love to share some secrets

That is site owned by Sunstar Entertainment and run by UCLANUPE, not me. UCLANUPE has been very kind to me by allowing me some web space on the site. He was also nice enough to work out a modest deal with my Dad to keep my movie 'Triumph and Tragedy' for download at the site past the 20 gigs limit he agreed too. Plus he has helped me so much that without him, I would not have been able to make my 1st movie.

There are a few totally cool guys like UCLANUPE, NTESLA, WILEY etc. that promote the movie makers in this forum and a special place for guys like them would be totally cool!

I've viewed your site...your cfs2 mvoies are interesting. Have you had a chance to view the movies which have been made from IL2 and FB yet?? The techniques used by most are apparently quite different from yours, a bit more complex I would say.

Some of the newest movies are truly a leap forward and at the cutting edge of this niche hobby of Flight Sim movie-making.

I also have been curious concerning the use of the *.wmx(?) format to prevent downloading of hosted movies from a Site. Do you use it to somehow save bandwidth(Does it Really save you bandwidth??) or to Protect your product/copyright??

On my Site, I've always hosted movies as Embedded media so that they simply load and play on the Site 'Page', but they can also be downloaded for folks who want their own Copy on their hardrive. Is there an advantage to the non-downloadable *.wmx(?) format which I am missing?

Thanks.

Wiley,

It saves alot of bandwidth in the long run. I have been calculating the bandwidth it would take just to run the movies alone. It is far more that anyone would expect. The playlist does save alot of bandwidth about 150 MB a month to be exact on our site. Without it it would chew up alot.

I can teach you Wiley how to do it if you like just email me.

I think it's great that Wags is willing to take this idea to his management. It would be nice to have a single forum for FB director/producers to share these works. Heck, even some exceptional .NTRK files would be entertaining, and apropos...and worth discussion. FB movie threads tend to get lost here a day or two after appearing in General Discussion.

If you do not get your own forum, maybe someone will host a website like Gibbage has done for the modelers--someone with a LOT of bandwidth and diskspace, hopefully! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The offers to host are generous... there is a movie making forum of sorts at http://www.blacksheepwebdesign.net/VirtualWarCinema/ but it doesn't generate the traffis it deserves... what i'm hoping for is a fourum or a link to the above forum on the ubi site. so everyon could finde it and view it... as said above movie posts submerge after a few days in general... that's why i keep bumping this one...

I know you guys want to have your own forum here and thats cool I also realise you have had one offer of forums just above. We have a vbulletin forum you can have space on that too.

At a high traffic site with its own dedicated FB server. Let me know.
