I had some time over so I translated that swedish site to english.
No need to thank me - it got me closer to end-of-workday.
Must say that the swedish text seems to have been written by a 15 year old.

I'll get the Gold, but I'm really waiting for the Platinum release...

That's where the goodies will be found.

Uhh ... why is everybody calling "Air Combat Collection" the "Gold Pack"? I thought the trilogy was tentatively being called "Platinum Pack"? As for all the 'goodies,' I thought the idea of the three Russian add-ons getting included on the DVD got nixed by UbiSoft, maybe so they could release a big add-on pack later?

Ohhh, my aching head ... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Skycat, you is wrong, be sure.

What ever it is called the "Gold" or "Air Combat Collection", will be FB+AEP+PF patched to 4.02. That is all.

The Platinum will come later (who knows when) and probably will have all content (hopefully Russian add-ons as well) and most of the remaining aircraft that are set to be added.

I hope.

Maybe.

Possibly.

Shall I keep equivocating?

The thread starter mixed things up so we're not talking Gold here as far as I know.

The edition posted on UBI's swedish site is simply called Air Combat Collection and seems to be a DVD with the merged pack with patches.
Is all.

oops, should have made it more clear- i have the gold pack and the CoE addon, but was this gold edition a compilaiton of all the products in one pack or is it the same gold pack i have?

Phil_C,

Bartolomeo_ita's opening post incorrectly assumed the "IL-2 Gold Pack" he linked to is the upcoming "IL-2 Air Combat Collection" on DVD-ROM.

"IL-2 Air Combat Collection" is scheduled to be released on Feb. 17. It will have Forgotten Battles, Ace Expansion Pack and Pacific Fighters on one disc.

The working title for "IL-2 Combat Collection" has been "Platinum Pack" to reflect its trilogy status while the previous "IL-2 Gold Pack" was a two-pack bundle of FB+AEP. When it was being called "Platinum Pack" there was speculation that it would contain some Russian add-on products currently in development but not otherwise planned for release in the 'West.' Oleg pitched the idea of including the Russian add-ons and at the same time said something about releasing the "Gold Pack" again on DVD to help people who are having a hard time finding it. Hence, there has been a whole lot of confusion as to what the business plan at UbiSoft really is for the FB+AEP+PF series.

F19_Orheim and masaker2005 have provided information about the upcoming "IL-2 Air Combat Collection" (IE, Platinum Pack) that will contain Forgotten Battles, Ace Expansion Pack and Pacific Fighters ... and probably the most current patch version.

ELAurens seems to believe that "IL-2 Air Combat Collection" is the new "IL-2 Gold Pack" and that something actually called "Platinum Pack" will be released after it with stuff beyond FB+AEP+PF. I think he is wrong ("be sure") but the way rumors and mis-information fly around here without developer clarification to stop it, who can really be sure what the future holds?

Cadet_Bobo noticed that Amazon only had one copy of "Gold Pack" -- the version that you have (because there isn't any other version right now) -- for $50. I suppose that the vendor at Amazon believes that the recent demand for Gold Pack (so newcomers can merge with PF) in relation to Gold Pack's sudden rarity in software stores justifies the ridiculously high price that is being charged.

Zatochi2005 has pointed out that UbiSoft's online store still carries "IL-2 Forgotten Battles Gold Pack" (which you have) for $40.

So basically I've reviewed the convoluted path this thread has travelled to clarify that there is only one "Gold Pack" and that's the one you already have. The forthcoming "IL-2 Air Combat Collection" (AKA "Platinum Pack") will be the 'compilation of all the products in one pack' while the "Gold Pack" linked by Zatochi2005 is the current FB+AEP pack. The decision of whether the Russian market addons in development will be released in the West or not hasn't been announced yet.
