Had Oleg began on Sturmovik 10 years ago, with a ready demo already?

I had a cdrom that came with a magazine some 10 years ago, long lost I am afraid. I vagely rembember that it what mentioned russian sim named Sturmovik, motivated since USSR WWII aircraft was so unfamiliar in the west and this a great airplane.

I tried to seek information about our Il2 game, and didnt find it go so long back. Was it Olegs prosject already? Anybody know when Oleg initially started?

Didnt Il2 sturmovik as we know it come around 2001?

Is there any spot we can get the old demo? I'd like to go back and see IL-2 in its original form. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think you're thinking of an old DOS game called Su-25 Sturmovik (AFAIK, "Sturmovik" is a term applied to all air-to-ground attack aircraft).

The original leaked demo has to be somewhere on the web. I'd like to see it, since it has some stuff that was taken out for the final game (rain on canopy, etc).

Anybody know where it still is? Anybody have a copy they can upload somewhere?

No, that's the demo '2.0'. I'm talking about the original-original leaked demo, from before IL-2 was released. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have an Il2 demo from PC Gamer or some other games magazine. I still have the original disc. I got it in 2001 and I remember trying out the P-39, veering hard to the right on take-off and exploding or else getting up, attempting a turn and constantly going into an unrecoverable flatspin - hence my Forum name.

Actually I have just dug it out. I have a demo from CD PowerPlay issue 67, if that is any help. It also features Max Payne and Spiderman. Think I'll try it out now since I have a new machine, proper joystick and some (virtual)flying experience.

Too late now, but do have it on one of the gaming mag cd's. Will look for it tomorrow.
P-39 was really hard to get off the ground.

x-ray: you got it, so it wasnt Il2 at all!

Could be fun to try the origianal Il2 demo, I had also planned to reinstall the original Il2. Just played it online 4 times, then FB came and the people that introduced me to the game all switched...

I dang near did the same thing, My pII 233 wouldn't run it at anything more than a slide show. So I had to save money to build a rig,all that time was spent toying with CFS series and Janes ww2 fighters.

Oh your all site really kicks Butt! available in so many languages really is an undertaking I'm sure.
