I had this problem with the Demo, and still have it. I have noticed that while some places are clear(red) enough to even notice some aliasing (yellow), some spots are really blurry(darkRed).

Anybody else getting this?

Would that not be the Depth of Field effect you're noticing?

Under your graphics options you can turn it off.

That's what I though, but On or Off it makes no difference. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Dunno. I've got a 9800 Pro 256MB running Catalyst 4.7 and it looks great. Reinstall?

Nirvelli I'm having a really hard time seeing what your problem here is. It looks to me like the Depth of Field effect. You'll notice that it's blurry in a circular region around where I presume your mouse/center of vision was position.

I'm wrong obviously from what you've said. But that's how it looks to me.

Bump... can anyone else post a Screenshot from that same spot with Depth Of Field OFF and see if it is the same?

Nirvelli, I'm still confused by this problem.

I just don't see it.

I go there, depth of field on, yup, same blurriness. I turn depth of field off, nope, no blurriness.

Here it is with DOF:http://img99.exs.cx/img99/2697/Myst4DOF.th.jpg (http://img99.exs.cx/img99/2697/Myst4DOF.jpg)
As you see, the railing is blurry, and it's more blurry.

I've noticed blurriness on some objects while other objects just as far away are much clearer. I think this has to do with the ALIVE engine. If an object is more involved with more layers of constant animation around it, it may be blurrier despite the equal distance.

One of the animations is an almost invisible mist, but it's a layer of animation the other cleaner area might not have. (You'll notice it more at night.) Notice the building on the right is the Kitchen hut. It's a hot room. It will have a lot of heat waves near it...more animation levels.

Despite the fuzziness of some areas & the crispness of others, I love the overall graphics of this game.

What are you Antialiasing and Anisotrophic Filtering settings from your ATI display?

BigReddUplay

4xAA (Temporal)
8xAF
Changing it does nothing. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Have you set both of these to allow program control?

Yes, I have tried all the AA and AF options, no luck. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Can someone please post a shot of that spot without DOF on so I can see what it's supposed to look like?

Getting a friend to do it for me :P Mostly because I'm too lazy to start a new game and get past Atrus ramblings so I can get to that point... Then again might do so myself...

I turned off the Depth of Field effect too, and sometimes things are blurry just as nirvelli says. I might play around with my settings.

(radeon 9600, no antialiasing, 8x aniso)

I finally see what you're referring to as blurry.

It just doesn't come across to me as blurry.

That one seen is blurry on all systems when a picture is taken from that angle.

But it's not so much blurry as artistic choice. The other is further in the distance and environmentally they made a choice to render it at a lower resolution/quality level.

Not sure what else to say... If you poke around other parts of the game without DoF you'll notice the same effect....

Ya, that's what I was hoping I wouldn't hear. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
I just went back and played Riven and it all just looked like a bunch of pictures of some place or something, Myst 4 doesn't have the same feel. Oh well, it's still a fun game.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
