What a great lil plane. It's not uber- or potentialy so- like the dora of the 47 but come on. Lets here a little praise for the lil guys!

Still spins a bit but as soon as I get the pedals out from under the couch that will settle that. Plus a plane that can snap roll almost at will isn't such a bad thing all the time if you know what I mean.

Glass jaw still too but 'O well I'll learn to live with it

Great plane. Mucho character!

p40 is fun to fly, still tough, but a good challenge. nice in the low scissors and horizontal.

you say p47 is 'uber', hehe, maybe i need to try it again http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm excited that it doesn't explode in a dive anymore.

P-39, good visuals, big canopy so you can always be looking up and around, not that fast but the latest model has a bomb and you have your 20mm cannon for taking out Heinkels. Excellent turning ability.

Heh ya. I was in a dive today and the plane did a little shake on the way down. Boy did I do- eyes wide open- O'ohh here we go. But I didn't blow and I flamed the guy on the pass. Deflection shooting is an artform.

But when yer spitting out lead from 6 guns its a wee bit easier. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Planes a dart for sure though. Aim it and fire and then get the heck out of their.

Anyways I said potentialy about the 47. Which it is imo. But thats neither here of there.

P-40 is flyable and Im happy. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Don't remember tracers being in only two guns before though. /shrug

They need to fix the off runway noseover with the p40 and 39, you just have to pull back but it shouldt do that, also the p40 .50s seems very weakened, they do the job but takes just about all your ammo without missing much at all.

And yes I love the p40 its a pretty good fighter now that we can bnz with it, its still slow as a snail.

test the p40 guns on stukas he111s tb3s 190s without a lucky pk or gastank hit they are pretty damn weak compaired to real guncam footage, the jug .8 50s seem more effective then they were, In 1.0 the p40s 50s seemed alot stronger then the jug, its hard to tell if its the gunstrenght or if the 109 190s he111 and stukas were given extra armor they all seem alot stronger then they ever were, makes me wonder if oleg did this on purpose becuase all the vvs whining

The b239s seems extra strong compaired to the jug and p40 which i dont get. 4 6 8 test them yourselfs

Im able to shootwings off and explode 190s with 2-3 short burst with the b239 many times.

/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif P-39 & P-40 are much improved IMO. thje 39 is dam near perfect, Note i said NEAR perfefect and the p-40 coulf use a litle more tweeking, but not to much. And the Jug...at 1st i thought it was totaly crap. For the most part it is,.... but the horse power and engine overall performance is a LITTLE better. Still Miles to go before that one is in tip top shape. The P-39/P-51...Lets hope they dont slaughter those they way they did the Jug./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

P-40's are now competative. Definatly not a super plane but not bad either. Its main advantage seems to be it is impossible to miss with 6x12.7mm's.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.

I have noticed that about the .50 cal. I tried the P-47 D-27 with only 4 X .50 cal firing, and I obliterated 6 aces Hurricane with that single flying toilet seat in less than a minute!!!! That was using only 4 X .50 cal.

I have tried the MG 17, MG FF & .50 cal, and it seem now that the pendulum has swung the other way, where most weapons have too much fire power and/or accuracy.

Did not try MG 151s, Mk 103 nor Mk 108 however, but I have heard that the Mk 108 has also been upgraded.

Any one else noticed ?? Any opinions on effectiveness of armement ??

Cheers,

Really enjoying the P-40. Easier to recover it seems...

Definitely more inertia on all planes it seems...

ha, p-40 was always good, I survived a 5vs1 (i was the 1) in the p-40M. The others were Bf-109s. I even got about 3 of em until help came and I even made it home. I was like "what a great plane".

Its tough as nails unless you get a really good shot to the engine. I put countless 20mms in one online tonight and didn't effect him too much and all were from 30 degree deflection or more. Eventually I got a good one on his engine and he tried to sneak away to land...fool your black smoke trail will give you away eventually and then your mine/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
