View Full Version : How do we install the new patch ?

It looks to me like I should just let it unzip to my
existing IL-2 FB directory, or unzip it to a temporary
directory and then copy it over to my install directory.

I couldn't find any documentation so this is what I did
however I still cannot play on-line because it is expecting
my IL-2 to be in some sort of dogfighting mode.

What gives ? The included readme docs only refer to the
bugs that have been fixed. What am I missing ?

Thanks.

You must edit some registry entry IIRC, but It's too late for my brain to recall exactly(it's 05:30 in my country). Mabybe someone else can help you. Goodluck /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

?? All you have to do is unzip into the default game directory.. If you let it install with its defaults, theres nothing to do. I think it was so easy that people got confused...

Yep, now I noticed thats probably only one of my problems.
When I copied the unzipped files over from the temporary space to the IL2 FB install directory, the conf.ini file that was included with the path overwrote all my settings (my fault for blindly copying it over).

I am perplexed at the paucity of documentation on how to install the patch here... if I am wrong I'll eat my hat though.

to play via ubi.com u need to fix two keys in the registry, to do so, go to start -> execute(or whatever it's called on an English Windows) -> and type regedit

Then find following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubi Soft\Game Service Games\IL2FB_COOP

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubi Soft\Game Service Games\IL2FB_DFIGHT

and change them to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubi Soft\Game Service Games\IL2FB_COOPERATIVE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubi Soft\Game Service Games\IL2FB_DOGFIGHT

good luck /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hey i just noticed one big thing in my registry:
[b]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubi Soft\Game Service Games\[b]
I still have the [b]IL2FB_DFIGHT[b] and [b]IL2FB_COOP[b], and simultaneously with
[b]IL2FB_DOGFIGHT[b] and [b]IL2FB_COOPERATIVE[b]
Is this a prob or it's the way it should be?

Before you start a vent, at least get your facts straight. For starters, there is no conf.ini file included in the patch.
Second, it a zip archive pre-addressesd to the default installaion location. All you have to do is click on unzip. If you have enough sauvy to install FB somewhere other than default, you ought to have enough sense to know to direct the files there (via the browse function).
Lastly, the copy/paste from a temp file will not work if there are hidden files and the "show" selection has not been checked in folder options.
