Hi,
Recently someone posted optimum settings for A7N8X with onboard sound. I tried these out last night, after patching to 1.11 also, and the immersion factor for me was tripled!

I have system as such:
*A7N8X deluxe
*Asus v9280S2 (Ti4800)
* 2x 256Mb ram 3300 DDR, running dual DDR controller.
*1 80gb SATA disk.

Cannon fire really echos in your ears, and you feel like sitting _in_ the aeroplane,not just behind the engine.

Possibly patch 1.11 has had an affect in this to, though I don't know for sure.

Absolutely awesome. I can't advise enough, that if you don't tweak your sound settings, you are missing out.

I could not find original post, though thanks go to them.

Pat.

If you have decent PC and soundcard,
just turn hardware acceleration or Enable Extension On either in setup.exe or in game.

Make all other setting default.

If your setting already like above, you're hearing right sound. If problems like stuttering during fire arise, purchase good soundcard like Audigy.

Who said IL-2 sound is better than FB? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Open your Il-2 FB folder.

Look for a icon called 'conf' open that.

You'll need to scroll down the page a little bit. Looking for the '[Sound]' entry. You may want to back-up the info that is already listed, just incase the new settings produces problems.

Then delete it, after that copy this:

[sound]
SoundUse=1
SoundEngine=1
Speakers=3
Placement=4
SoundFlags.reversestereo=0
RadioFlags.Enabled=0
RadioEngine=2
MusicVolume=8
ObjectVolume=14
MusState.takeoff=0
MusState.inflight=0
MusState.crash=0
MusFlags.play=0
MasterVolume=14
Attenuation=7
SoundMode=2
SamplingRate=2
NumChannels=2
SoundExt.occlusions=1
SoundFlags.hardware=1
SoundFlags.streams=1
SoundFlags.duplex=1
SoundExt.acoustics=1
SoundExt.volumefx=1
SoundFlags.voicemgr=0
SoundFlags.static=1
VoiceVolume=12
Channels=2
SoundExt.extrender=0
SoundFlags.bugscorrect=0
SoundSetupId=9
ActivationLevel=0.02
Preemphasis=0.85
RadioLatency=0.5
AGC=1
PTTMode=1
SoundFlags.UseRadioChatter=1
SoundFlags.AutoActivation=1
RadioFlags.PTTMode=1
RadioFlags.PlayClicks=0
ActLevel=0
MicLevel=0

Then paste it in your 'conf'.

Peregrine, you are welcome.
The only thing I would say is that there are certain low frequency sound effects in the game (I can't recall what they are), maybe trucks driving pass airplane while taxiing, or bombers flying overhead creates that reverberates. Hard to explain, but uncomfortable to listen to. I just go to external view until I taxi away from that sound source.

psaunder...thanks for the suggestion.My sound in FB has been terrible and I noticed with the test5 beta it was excellent.I pasted your sound settings in config.ini.It sounded better and I could at least hear my guns loudly.I was still getting the loss of sound when turning the view and other slight weirdness.But Ive fixed it all and then some by setting 3d to minimal in setup.It is spot on perfect now/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Even planes flying right by the cockpit sound perfect!
