View Full Version : Friday update.

XyZspineZyX
07-18-2003, 12:59 PM
I was in hope to post today usual Friday update. But it seems that Cartrix is absent at the moment.
So if it will be not posted today, please look on Monday.

There will be some news about our current work:
some new P-51s, B-17, Hawk 75s , CR.42, new objects for new map (western), Japanese aircraft, etc...

About patch. Officially date of release will be posted if not today then on Monday.
Its already soon. We did global rework of some things, including damage, tunes, AI, etc...
Sound will be completely new and now will work with simple and complex sound cards as well.

Online after the patch will be faster. We modified the code of security and oprtimized it for the transfer speed. I hope that nobody whant again cheaters, so we protect everything for online together with the new optimization. So it will work much faster than in original FB.

When Screen shots will be posted I will try to comment it and will answer for additional questions only in topic that I posted myself.

Also I will tell on the next week our closest plans in development and releases.

See you on monday.

I hope that with this message someone became more serious and will not looks like kids /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif Joke, but... I understand that summer is hot....

Some comment:
Someone in interview said that "what can do 4 engineers"? I think he need to look more in the Development team page... These people (from interview) can't even read with the attention the page with info... What we can say about thier own development and attention to details???? Hmm.... I think they need to have more knowledge not only in aviation area....

YEAHH!!! MONDAY!!!!!!!

-------------

"The picture repeats itself when operations, which began with great intent and local successes, degenerated into senseless, wild hammering at fixed front-line positions once they encounter initial heavy losses and unforeseen situations. This incomprehensible phenomenon appears again and again. But, even in extremis, the Russian is never logical; he falls back on his natural instinct, and the nature of the Russian is to use mass, steamroller tactics, and adherence to given objectives without regard to changing situations."

Just to restate my longstanding view:

If you have a flyable P51 and the B17.. then I would gladly pay for a new SIM.. ie another $40.00

Those two planes (with some Me109's and 190's thrown in /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ) maybe a B24.. have an enormous "independent" market..

I don't feel that you need to be a charity...I'd like to see you make a living at this !

" The first time I ever saw a jet, I shot it down ": General Chuck Yeager, USAF, describing his first confrontation with a Me262 - - -
" Aggressiveness was a fundamental to success in air-to-air combat and if you ever caught a fighter pilot in a defensive mood you had him licked before you started shooting ": Captain David McCampbell, USN, leading U.S. Navy ace in W.W.II.

Orca, chill. It ain't yet Sat in Sydney unless you guys have decided to break away from the Eastern Seaboard and establish your own time zone. Somehow I don't think so and this is being posted at 11.35pm Friday in Melbourne.

Now I hope the date is posted on Monday and that date is soon. I think this patch will make FB a very nice sim and address alot of the issues all have been having.

p.s. using Beta 7, I am yet to experience sound problems but I'm running minimal 3D engine with 32 channels and it seems fine. Some great things with ai and flight modelling which makes flying for the Finns early on in the campaign reasonable instead of a suicide mission. So, looking forward to the final patch and added goodies (-:

Tnx Oleg.

B17.....he wrote B17......Oh boy we is cookin now. This could take things to a whole new level. P51's and P47's defend B17's against 109s, 190s, 262s, 163s........it's a whole new front. Stalin is very happy to hear about this.

Ok, I did try to read the post calmly and carefully... But I got as far as P-51s and B-17, then drooling took over. B-17! 6 gunner positions, 1 bomber with a norton(sp?), pilot... Ok, I got to admit the Escadrille 101 are mostly bombers so we would truly be flabergast by the B17. Ok gotta stop writing and calm down we don't even know if it's gonna be flyable.

Thanks for the heads-up Oleg.

Don't get your hopes up for a flyable B17.. AI B17 yes.. fully flyable with all those gunner and crew positions.. nope http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Given the fun of the He111 with multicrew, a flyable B17 would be a BLAST for multicrewing, but tat would be something for a later time, after a TON of art work was done..

Don't get so carried away!!!

He meant (probably) more updates on the p-51, B-17 and other planes/maps. He didn't meant more version...(which is what you want to hear, not what is written)

Also, I dounbt they have a flyable B-17 or any other heavy/mediaum plane. It would be too much work for them.

Expect little and you won't be disappointed...expect too much...and u crash.

Thanks for the update Oleg.

That was the first piece of good news today and that is totally welcome.

I just wanted to say that your game is just fantastic, and despite the childish reactions of many of us here, we deeply appreciate your effort in making this sim the BEST sim in the whole world.

Some poeple don't understand the impossibility of making things even better due to simple lack of technology.

I have complete confidence and you and your team. You guys are doing a marvelous job. Keep up the good work!

PS.: You know you spoiled us, right? Now I can only settle for buying a game that matches your standards /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

There will be some news about our current work:
- some new P-51s, B-17, Hawk 75s , CR.42, new objects
- for new map (western), Japanese aircraft, etc...

Does that mean new modles of the P-51 mabey B or C models?

Xanty. The PBY will be flyable, and at 4000LB bomb load it can be considerd a medium bomber http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Just too slow...

I meant made by Maddox, not 3rd party, like you.

Yes. In a recent post, he said he had no plans for a flyable B-17 because its to much work. It would take a team effort. I proposed me, you, and Fennec can do it as a team with Snorri as a texture artist. What do you think? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Of the four planes listed I'd certainly be interested in the Falco and the Hawk 75. Thank you Oleg. I really look forward to hearing where this program is going when you tell us on Monday.

Question (if not to be addressed in the "State of the FB" address Monday (Tuesday our time :-( ): If this is heading towards an expanded European theatre ie Eastern Front, Western Front and currently half the "Northern Front", does this mean the Med/North Africa/Italy/Yugoslavia etc (heck, maybe even the apparently beloved Spanish Civil War) is done and FB covers the whole European theatre/area, not just what the US (mainly) & UK fans want. Are we likely to see this theatre as well? I ask as there seems a large following for it and many of the aircraft used are already in the program.

Thank you again Oleg & Co. (and xanty + gibbage for their efforts).

Nah, I am planning on making some other work, but the B-17 is not a priority for me.

I am hekping some other modellers and maybe I'll team up with Rafael in making the A-20 Boston flyable (maybe cockpit and gunners)

YOU GUYS CAN DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT AS LONG AS IT IS FOR FOGOTTEN BATTLES!

"Kitty Hawk commanders were so unnerved by the aerial penetration they rotated squadrons on 24-hour alert and had planes routinely meet or intercept various aircraft. The Russians were so proud of the maneuver they e-mailed the Kitty Hawk pictures the planes captured while passing over the ship and its warplanes. A Navy official confirmed, "Yes, there were e-mails with pictures sent to the ship."
