I received a warship sighting from the watch officer and when I investigated, I saw I had a Fiji light cruiser steaming at 30 knots, 6000m off my port bow. Too bad, I thought, then I had an idea...

Flak speed, heading to view, man the guns. A couple of ranging shots and then a few hits. I figured if I can't catch up to her, I'll make her come to me! To my surprise, she slowed down to 17 knots and started zig-zaging away from me. The top speed of my VIIB is 19 knots (the ocean was like glass), so I started slowly gaining. Meanwhile, I kept firing the deckgun.

She fired back, but only intermittently. My heart stopped a few times when faced with a broadside (during the zig-zag turns she would bring most of her guns to bear), but most of the shells missed. I got hit once, 7% damage to hull integrity and some minor internal damage.

Then...

...some 35 AP and 60 HE shells later!
