Greetings fellow IL-2 Gamers;
I posted a note on this forum earler asking when we could expect the P-51 addition to this fine game. It seems to have touched off a fire storm of comments.
This was not my intended purpose. I am currently the exec. officer of the USAAF 352nd fighter group, we currently fly all the planes in this game. You will find me flying most any of the fine planes currently in this game. Our fighter group is made up of members that used to fly as the 251st in CFS2 as a marine fighter group, we chose to fly the Corsair, and a great fighter aircraft it was.
We joined IL-2 FB because it clearly is a better flight sim program. Our hat is off to the people who designed and published this fine game. We came into this game and intend to pattern our group after the original 352nd fighter group. And when the P-51 comes out we intend to fly it as our main plane, but we will also fly the other planes that this ww2 group flew, and since we all love the ww2 era aircraft, I think everyone can enjoy this game without resorting to insults, The 352nd makes no claim that the P-51 was the greatest fighter of the war, there were many great planes, and it is always the pilot that makes the difference. My favorite plane is the P-51, but I also think the Spitfire, and Yak-3 were very good and the German planes were very good as well. All of us can enjoy flying the well modeled planes in this sim and if we don't like the way it flys , pick another plane.
If anything, was said by me, or other 352nd fighter group members that would make you think we were claiming to be anything more then guys who enjoyed this game, I am here to say that is not the case. Also I am not one who will say the United States won the war, we did our part, but so did the Brits, Russians, Poles, Canadians, and many other countrys, who died my the millions to give us the freedom to enjoy a game like this.
And think what it must have been like for the German pilots who had to fly against overwelming odds with no hope of relief, they flew until they died.
lets all try and keep this fun.

As the commanding officer of the 361st virtual fighter group I whole heartedly agree with you. We fly what we enjoy no matter what country it came from. However in our squad missions we fly the Jug as that is historic and once the Mustang becomes flyable we will fly that as well. But in our free-time you can catch me in a BF-109 F-4./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
