Hiya all.
I've been unable to play since the end of July, and now that I've returned I notice a few things have changed. Last version I played was 405m...

So what's new?
407? Has it finally been released?
Anyone seen Danjama?

Afraid you'll need to update me a little...

Cheers guys!

Previously on IL2 Sturmovick:

Boonty boob splits community with many feeling that 4.05 didn't really appeal to them.

Danjama found wandering the streets 8 months pregnant with Oleg & Raaids love child, this child could decide the fate of the release mechanism for all remaining IL2 updates.

Danjama selects an at home delivery with the aid of a birthing tank and Cindy Lauper back catalogue. The child is born with the genetic memory of a small duck who once ate an entire Szechuan beef with only one chopstick.

It is decided that the remaining addons will be released together with all the preceeding content on a DVD entitled IL2 1946. Many claim that they will never buy this "fictitious fantasy" 4.07 and will instead wait until 4.06(SOM) becomes available to download.

USA release isn't scheduled to happen at all and Stateside player must buy EU imports of the game through various small online stores who cater for this specialist interest.

Luke is now a Jedi after having completed 3 days of training on Dagoba, WTF? Han is encased in carbonite.

And now the continuation....<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

4.07m has been released in the form of the IL2 1946 DVD which has all the series up to 4.07m... which means it includes PE-2, Manchuria and 46. also a 4.071m beta patch has been released to fix some bugs in 4.07m.

Many are reporting the P-51 to be a lot better than previously, and the US Navy plane wobbles are gone...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Thanks for bringing me up to date!
Just a pity that the Yankee planes are better now, no more easy kills in my beloved 109 G2... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

By the way, which game version does the majority of the community use at the moment?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

BrewsterPilot: since the US guys started getting their hands on the new DVD through GoGamer, 4.07 is rapidly becoming more popular among many of the more established Hyperlobby servers.

It's still getting established however, due to the usual global distribution tribulations we've come to expect.

At the moment it's still easy to get a game with 4.05, probably more so than with 4.04.

Note 1: once you have the "top dog" 4.07 installation it's easy to maintain retrograde compatibility with 4.05 / 4.04 online with the aid of a couple of batch files.

Note 2: there is no "4.06" presence at all due to the fact that the 1946 DVD pack installs right up to 4.07 in one hit; although there is rumoured to be a downloadable install path to 4.06 at some point it's unlikely this'll become established as a viable online option, most will be running 4.07 and this is the only version being patched by Oleg at present (plus there'll be a 4.08 map/mission expansion for it at some point too).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I don't know about the majority of the online players but I do know that servers like Winds of War, WarClouds, Zeke vs Wildcat, Spits vs 109s and 102nd coop dedicated have already upgraded to 4.071m and I think many more will do so sooner than later.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You can have no idea just how hostile aircraft can be until they come to your area...
Aircraft which strafe or bomb your positions should be regarded with suspicion, if not deep mistrust. Aircraft which bomb and strafe your position and wear a red circle should certainly be regarded with deep mistrust. In fact, the deeper the better. A six-foot-deep slit trench is an ideal place from which to mistrust them...
