Well IceFire, congrats buddy. You've waited a long time for it and, and let me say it's going to be a nightmare online.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

1) Some bobble, but nothing like the P51
2) Gun recoil is not bad, and long range hispano shots are once again possible. Tons of ammo.
3) Fast and great acceleration. Separate boost button required, and the poor motor sounds like it will explode any minute
4) QMB testing only, but seems to turn like a dream
5) Visibility forward is one of the best out of any plane in the sim. Maybe only the I~185 is better. Rearward vis stinks, as the trend continues in hampering allied planes with bubble canopys by making the armor plate too big. Someday we will have head tilt I hope.

This plane just may force servers like warclouds to have maps with 1943 planesets in order to give the bleus some relief.

don´t bother.. it will still flame and burn when it crosses a FW190 gunsight.

I just did a quick offline test fly: the 4x20mm cannon are deadly: it put big holes on Bf109 or FW190's wing. The Tempest flew smooth like silk.

I'm really thankfull to Oleg and all peoples who keep providing us with patches at FREE COST. To be honest, I don't mind to pay extra $ for patches. This combat flight sim is incredible. The only complaint that I have is the game is too additive!

I tried out the Tempest against various aircraft.

Those guns simply disintegrated anything they hit.Rarely had a plane I shot at not explode in a shower of parts in front of me.
Good manueverability and excellent power. All around great plane.

Where is the La7 banned? Its on all the 1944/45 Eastern front maps online that I play on.

The Tempest is certainly not 'uber' in the sense that anyone can fly it. Its going to take skill and patience like the FW190 to fly well.

FW190A on mid war maps just rules them if it has a good pilot, its untouchable. The Tempest could do this too I guess, but it takes a skillful pilot to use well. Novice pilots would do better with the Spitfire Vc4 - 4 cannon - than the Tempest I think.

I cannot see ANY reason to ban it.

But that poor engine!

I noticed in a steep dive it seems better to turn the WEP off, otherwise you have that sound of a runaway prop governor.

What's the word on damaging the Sabre?

Thanks folks!

The Tempest has largely turned out as I had hopped it would. So far its performance, handling, and character are what I expected from it. It's a superb example of the pinnacle of RAF fighter engineering and it along with the Mosquito mean that us Commonweath pilot types have lots of new possibilities outside of just the Spitfire and Hurricane http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I haven't pushed the engine too hard yet...but the WEP sound is quite a rush!

Overheats quickly and takes a little while to cool, crappy rearward vis but that's all the bad stuff.

Everything else is great. Killed A8 and D9 online in COOPs.

Flying the D9 I found the Tempest relatively easy to kill. In the A8 the Tempest was more trouble.

But I love the visibility - hats off to the designer!

Those 20mms are something. Just used QMB to set a fight against a G14. Sat behind the Messer at about 250 meters, popped off one burst, tracers showed it went somewhat wide left but one or both of the left wing cannon connected and ripped the 109's wing clean off.

The Tempest is great...it will definitely be popular in places like Warclouds...it is definitely THE MOST capable Allied fighter in the sim now.

I'm hoping Target or Robban will do a climb test on the 25# Spit...it is hard for me to tell climb rates..but it left me feeling like we still need the MkXIV

If you leave it in overheat for 5 min it will bust the motor.

Btw, anyone else noticed we lost the WEP/TP11 HUD message from the, ahem, AI version? Now is standard Boost/WEP

I have a few questions, in the leaked beta the gunsight was the same size as in the Spitfire/Hurricane/Mosquito/ add British plane here, yet in the actual patch it is tiny. Any partiular reason? Also the armour plate seems to have been made even bigger! I like the plane but do feel it has been downgraded a bit so we don't get all the moaning about being killed by so called 'uber' Tempests.
Otherwise the cockpit is fantastic, the plane looks great, especially all the detail when the engine covers get shot off and wing panels etc. Also having rockets is a great addition, but only 1,000lb bombs? No 250lb or 500lb bombs?

tempests got shot down in droves on warclouds tonite, i got about 4 myself.

if a good fw or p47 pilot is flying one it might be deadly. but with the mostly spit pilots flying them like tonite, doras eat them up.

N00bz. You should strap one on and show them how it's done.

The Spitn00bs should be punishing ya'll in the 25lb Mk IX. Only thing I don't like about the 25lb IX is it's got girly-girl .303s instead of manly .50 cal machine guns in it's vings. Other wise it's a dream.

I reckon there's alot of Spitflyers that has been trying out a little combat in the Tempest and got their behinds handed to them. And I don't see anything strange with that. The Tempest is a totally different beast than the Sptifire. However, those who have practised fighting in the D-9 will have no problems adjusting to the Tempest. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Actually, I shot him then sort-of rammed him. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The FW pilot has actually bailed out already in that picture. I stayed in the cockpit for a while going "waaah" at the damage. Then I thought better of trying to forced land in the field. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The Tempest sounds like a hummingbird on crack with its WEP kicked in. I love it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I like the way when the propeller fails it actually takes time to spin to a stop now - though I've not yet checked to see if the P51 prop still freezes instantly on failure.

Also - the FW190 prop actually STOPPED. Previously they would lose all power but I seemed to rarely come to a stop. That was my impression anyway.

"Reaching Newchurch airfield at 480 mph I held "RB" down to 20 ft from the runway and then pulled her up to a 60 ? climb holding it as the speed dropped slowly off and the altimeter needle spun round the dial as if it were mad. At 7000 ft the speed was dropping below 180 mph and I rolled the Tempest lazily inverted, then allowed the nose to drop until the horizon, at first above my head, disappeared below (or rather above) the now inverted nose, the fields and woods steadied into the centre of the windscreen and then whirled around as I put the stick hard over and rolled around the vertical dive. Steadying again I pulled out over the tree tops at 500 mph, throttled back and pulled hard over towards the airfield in an over-the-vertical climbing turn, lowering the wheels and flaps in a roll as the speed dropped. What a magnificent aeroplane! They could have all their Spitfires and Mustangs!"

Found this lurking around. It's from 'My part of the sky' by Roland Beamont.

the rear view is a real pain on it, trying to disengage ur totally blind to anyone sneaking up on you, and it overheats very quickly, but i find it very good beat 190s with ease the 109s are more trouble especially if u have to go defensive, since we only have our 9lbs boost version running on the deck isnt so effective. The rockets i find arnt worth the massive speed loss but bombs are good u go slow as hell with them but dont lose a great deal after u drop.
