At last I got to finish this movie:

Thanks a lot to Russell Boyd (Joe 90) who helped me with video aspects and Michael Lockhart (310th Falcon) with sound effects.

In this movie you will see the integration of IL2 and COD game engines by means of screening/overlaying as well as real human appearance made possible with the blue screening method.

Just watched the sreaming version (downloading the high res) and I have to say that you've done some great work there!
The revi point of view looks exactly like the original Rudel's gun camera i've seen in You Tube.
The blending of the different games footage is phainomenal! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
Real humans look quite convincing also!
Great job Bravo! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

That is just... amazing!! I am going to move this to the MM forum and leave a link in the GD. Oops already done... this is easily THE most revolutionary IL2 movie I have ever seen.... and thats saying a lot considering some of the great stuff over the years.

one question. how did you do that
merging Call of duty and Il2
and including the real humans. looked very convincing. ive seen another il2 movie that mixes the same Call of duty locations with the il2 planes.

looks great except the houses might be a bit too big compared when you sit in the cocpit.

very good work. im impressed

That is a VERY REMARKABLE film! FANTASTIC WORK! My mouth my hanging open when I saw how natural the guys looked. Amazing! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Now that you have done this, and we know that you have this talent, it may not come as much of a surprise that people ask if you are thinking of doing more films.

Fantastic. The music, the gun FX, the lighting. The acting was a smidge stiff though. (But merging them was close to seamless.) Well done.

Hi Elephant;

The revi point of view looks exactly like the original Rudel's gun camera i've seen in You Tube.

You are a sharp observer as I used the You Tube clip of Rudel's gun cams as reference to my simulation regarding tracer speeds and overall effects!

Thanks for your comments! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Hi Gen Kalle

one question. how did you do that
merging Call of duty and Il2

I used a method where you film the "actor" in front of a blue screen (piece of cloth). In the movie studio software (sony vegas) you can remove the blue color and make it transparent and then lay it over the base image. For IL2 aircraft it must be filmed against the background of a clear blue sky or snow surface and then you can screen it onto another image.

Wow! A truly superb movie...Exceptionally Artistic in both sound and visual modes, with superb technical achievements in Special FX. Stuka Engine sounds stand out as unusually realistic, and the incorporation of "live" human characters is clearly a remarkable, nearly unprecedented, feature.

While it is always difficult to compare apples to oranges, I must say that this is definitely one of the Best movies ever produced using the IL2 Flight Sim game engine....Masterful merging with Call of Duty to present hugely superior ground scenes/objects...

It is really thrilling to see such a creative movie appearing on the scene so late in the life of the IL2 Series and in the continuing evolution of the IL2 movie-making niche.

I'd say that with this movie following your "Inside the Whirlwind" that you have stepped into the very front rank of IL2 Movie-Makers!!! No more mere newbie Silver Oleg's for you, my friend...

Well Done!! 5 out of 5 Stars from me and a Big Salute!

A superb production http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

How long did it take to make?

I was so inspired that today I made a co-op featuring the TankBuster!

Thank YOU for this wonderful production. Are you planning any more like this in the future? You have brought a new dimension to Il2 film making that has never been done as well as this before. The only other time I can think of that used the technology that you have used in regards to using real people was "The Entertainer" and that was quite a different kind of film entirely. For those that have been around a while, I believe you may remember "The Entertainer" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I am sure that I speak for us all when I say that we would surely be looking forward to seeing more of your quality work http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If there is one bit of constructive criticism, and I don't think I am criticizing at all, it was near the end of the movie. Already being flabbergasted by the sheer beauty of it, I was watching as the Russian fighters were moving in to attack the Tankbusters, and I was waiting for more "people" shots (I just couldn't get enough of them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif). Perhaps the pilots looking over their shoulders, or even better, the gunners as they were firing and seeing the expressions on their faces during the sheer emotional stress of the fight.

I am still amazed by your film and I just can't get over it. I am sure you have learned many things during your time in making it and should you decide to make another film, it will be even better than "Tankbusters" with the experience you had in making it.

hi Choctaw

Thanks again for your kind comments http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Are you planning any more like this in the future?

Yes definitely; the next challenge would be to merge IL2 planes with real life scenery like airfields, mountains, cities, explosions, etc. The other challenge for me is to merge very accurate scale models (like tanks)footage with real life scenery and then add the IL2 planes; to achieve this from an amateur like me will take some time...

Perhaps the pilots looking over their shoulders, or even better, the gunners as they were firing and seeing the expressions on their faces during the sheer emotional stress of the fight.

I eagerly want to do these kind of close-up shoots where human emotions are expressed....The problem is you need original or authentic copies of flying gear like flying helmets, goggles, oxygen masks, uniform insignia, etc. To get hold of this is not easy. For my stuka movie I made use of simple materials and look-a-like objects that is ok for far away shoots.

This cutting-edge movie has just been added to the Best of the Best IL2 movies indexed at the "Flight Sim Movies" (http://flightsimmachinima.montydan.com/) website, and it is now the featured selection for 2008.

It has been especially recognized with the award of the Golden Oleg for outstanding artistic achievement, along with superb technical achievement in special effects.
