you have to get Vietcong. You can go to war or just go endangered species hunting.

I'd reccomend BF1942 as well. It's a FPS in WWII drag, not a sim, but it's loads of fun. (if you get on a good server)

On the downside, the flight model is, well, weird. As I say, it's not a sim.

If you're looking for something more sim-like, there's always WWII online. Of course, you gotta pay. Still, it's a very involving game, and they keep expanding and improving things.

The flight model is not up to FB standards, but it's quite good, and they keep improving it. There are very few compromises, it's pretty much "full real" all the time.

- have they sorted out the weapons yet as well ( german weapons for japs etc )

Apparently RTCW is good online

Medieval: Total War is a great game. You can play the battles online. Get the Viking invasion expansion pack too.

Medal of Honor:Allied Assault

FPS WWII, my opinion, better than BF1942

Go to the [DaDs] Army server, the best MOHAA server on the net!

East Coast server IP is 66.151.108.86:12203
West Coast server IP is 216.52.5.121:12300

I am currently playing (and loving) Planetside. It is a very good tactical shooter.

OK so it's a futuristic setting, but dropping 50 soldiers 2 buggies three light tanks and powered armour into an enemy base from 1200 feet at 120mph from a flight of galaxy transport ships is a hell of a lot of fun, especially when every single one of them is controlled by a real human being. ON teamspeak the screams reach all the way to your soul.

Firefights lasting 20 minutes are not uncommon, and there is plenty of scope for air combat - just don't expect anything even approaching realism.

Alternatively, the graphics may now look old hat but the finely balanced gameplay and team aspects of the Half-Life Mod "Day of Defeat" make for a very interesting dynamic, one I easily get lost in.

The Desert Combat mod for BF1942 offers a real challenge - flying blackhawks, A-10s and F-16s instead of Spitfires and FWs.

Finally for those of you who enjoyed counter-strike - it has been improved upon mightily as a genre with the release of the Quake III mod "True Combat". Small counter-terrorism squad action with very realistic bullet physics, smoke, flashbangs grenades and all the other accoutrements you have come to expect from Tango V WhiteHats. Hell you don't even have a cursor on your screen - you pull up the iron sights and blast away!

Of course (he said dragging the post kicking and screaming back on topic) None of these can compare to IL2-FB for flight simulator fidelity, but they are a lot of fun!

Before you buy the game I advise you read their forums first.

http://www.gathering.com/forums/index.php?c=2&sid=30c2d4090918b8cbdf9ba0fd48e3bba7

I have the game and its stunted. Online is fun but only for a short while and I personaly do not belive it was worth the money. I am a dedicated FPS player but Vietcong just did not do it for me. Why? The graphics for a start are awfull as its D3D not OpenGL.

Cheats? Never met one yet for vietcong (they are all playing Raven Sheild)/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Give Flanker more time. It's quite fun once you get over the GUI learning curve. It's also going to be the exact setup (avionics and weapons) as your going to see in Lomac.

The graphics in VC are fine with me. Walking around a corner and spooking 5 parrots into flight is one of many small - nice touches.

If you want a Warfare simulation online the best is without doubt Ghost Recon. Better than Raven Shield with more depth and easy to learn.

I don't recommend MOHAA or RTCW as they are team based unrealistic games that are enjoyable only if you have a clan and you have friends etc. If you want to get one of the, I will just recommend Enemy Territory which is Free to get. It is a better version of the RTCW and it is the best in its genre.

As for strategy games online the only mature games I can recommend are Age of Mythology and Rise of Nations.

For ultra-action online games just get UT2003.

Vietcong, Devastation and those cheap FPS games are for trush. I wouldn't recomment it any way. If you find american vs vietcong fights with each side jumping like rabbits and firing randmly then get them.
