With all the negative grumbling about this and that I just thought I would try to help us put things in perspective. Forget about the fact that there were 2 add ons that you paid for.... add ons that regardless to wheter otr not you had to buy them or they were free.... we only could have gotten from 1C. Looking back on this series since the original IL2. What things can you find that we always wanted and now have? I can think of several.

1-Carrier landings
2-P-51s,P-47s,Dora,B-25s,P-40s,P-38s, etc... in other words more aircraft.... lots more.
3-More maps....... several more than I had when I came here from CFS to IL2 which I was loving as it was.......
4-Convertable speedbar- from KPH to MPH... this was something that was asked for again and again....... and it was delivered.
5-Reduced muzzle flash
6-Opening canopies- granted not on every plane but still.....
7-The ability to raise in the seat.
8-The smoke effects in the damage models.......
9-improved sound.......
10-better AI....

I am sure there is more I just cant think of it. What can you think of that was an improvement to this sim that we were clamoring for and 1C delivered on? Forget the negativity.. forget whether or not we paid for it.... I paid full price for evey version of this product including IL2 which was $49 back then... so if you paid $20 for IL2 or $70 for the GOLD/PF deal then you got a great deal.

Oleg is a smart guy. He realizes that the negative comments and bitterness originate from the same dozen or so guys that have no life but are placed upon this earth to *****. I don't think he sweats it to be honest. Based on the stuff you rattled off and the general consesus about Il2 across the board, only the trolls and nutcases could find any real fault with this game. They're just attention seekers in order to compensate for their small d#cks.

Well, I must admit, I've been one of the gripers re: the latest patch, but you are right concerning what we've got so far...
The series as a whole has given us much more than any one else could hope to have!
I have the original iL2, FB, Ace Expansion and PF, and my life has just not been better when it comes to virtual flying!
I think what got to me now revolves mainly around the lack of the flyable Mosquito, when you consider that it was mentioned in a recent poll as due out with the latest patch, also seeing as it is finished AND FLYABLE according to Oleg, and this has to be one of my all time great planes from WWII, I just wonder where the hell it is? Anyway, I promised myself no more whingeing on the subject, and even though I am one of those stuck with a modem and exorbitant phone bills just to get a d/l that often in the past doesn't work, I would happily pay for anything extra that comes along.
I think that most of the moaning going on is not about the cost, but more of a feeling of being let down after we have gotten our hopes up for extras mentioned on the site, which then don't appear!
Just one question re: your list of extras so far: point 7- the ability to raise the seat?
As far as I know, it's only on some of the US planes that this feature occurs, but I've found that the seat only rises in an external view, i.e. If I'm sitting in the cockpit view and raise the seat, it doesn't appear to raise!
In external view(F2) I see the seat raise and lower, but not in-cockpit.
Am I doing/not doing something right, or is it only the external view? If so, it's purely cosmetic, and doesn't help the pilot's vision at all!!
So, I will dream tonight of flyable Mosquito's, Tempests, Lancasters, Wellingtons, and more.
Maybe when I awake, the Good Ship 1C will have made more of my dreams a reality!
Until the sky falls on our heads, a good day to all.

I agree completely. This is the reason that my satisfaction with any patch has outweighed my dissasisfaction. The knowledge that that iteration is an improvement on the whole of the last one keeps me happy...if that makes sense to anyone.

Having heard that there is a certain amount of doubt as to weather the Tempest and Mosquito will make it into the Sim as flyable A/C?
I would think that the makers of these two A/C having spent God knows how much time in collecting the data, drawings, Photos etc. Then having to pull it all together and build a virtual Tempest/Mosquito to Olegs exacting standards‚‚ā¨¬¶.Put it anyway you like, I Would be pretty gutted if after all that, they were not to be flown in the pinnacle of WWII Aviation Sims. There are others that you may say should be here also, but these A/C are like some of the Prime Numbers of Aviation History

I know you can have these two A/C in other Sims, but it is this sim that they should be in‚‚ā¨¬¶ Their place here should have been set along time ago.

Not to have them both is a travesty to their rightful historic place along side their famous Aerial Brothers‚‚ā¨¬¶

It‚‚ā¨ôs along time before BoB hits the shelves, let us hope they are not left on one themselves‚‚ā¨¬¶

Of all the flamefests I was involved in the past, with minor exception there's really just one attitude here at present that gets me angry. People who judge Oleg's motives as somehow sinister as opposed to their rights.

In regards to the points you've made I haven't read much about the reduced muzzle flash, a very nice improvement. I think I forgot... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

TT and roland... that's what I am talking about..... that kind of stuff..... we could fill up a page with all the extra aircraft from IL2 out of the box to this.... Then when I look at paying $29 for a single Spitfire for CFS3..(or is it FS2004)... I go...PPPFFT!!

I'm thankful Oleg is doing well after his accident. Every other imperfection or improvement pales in comparison.

I love to watch tracks and see the head of the pilot move around. (Yeah, I know it's stupid....but it's fun.)

I'm glad Oleg sent us the new FM's so when BOB is close to finishing he already has a good idea of how each plane will or won't react.

I'm thankful for the new patch because my stock in CH flight pedals and sticks has gone up $6.00 in 2 weeks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif (JK)

I can't say I'm happy for any specific plane, and I've got a very basic idea of how much effort it takes, so I'm gkad to have what I do have. If we get more, either by add on or patch, that would be swell.

I hear ya, Bearcat. You go back to the other sims and see where things left off. EAW, WW2 Fighters, CFS123, Screamin' Demons, B-17 M8II. Most of maybe got patched to 1.05 or 2.0. If not for the dedicated combat simmers out there, those sims would have fallen from the face of the earth much faster. I was beginning to get tangled up in the EAW scene when I saw a demo on a gaming mag cd for IL-2. Even though I could barely get in the air I knew that here was something special. And as it goes with all we have received to this point I know that as much as I would to see more if the plug was pulled I'll still be flying this sim for a long time to come. ramble over, time for sleep....

LOL........... I hear ya, LStarsota.

I think we all realize he's not a man on a mountain all alone who comes down off the mount holding new patches for the followers of IL2.

We realize it's a workforce that completes this game, but Oleg is the owner ,and more often than not the person who communicates the progress of game developement. (Through Ivan or Ian Boys of course) He also posts on forums too.

So I think it's a natural progression to refer to the development "TEAM" as one person, typically the one responsable. Oleg Maddox.

After all you don't hear people complaining to Ian Boys or anyone else if somethings messed up) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually it is only in some of the planes for PF tjhat this works and to see the effect in the pit you have to A)assign a key to it and B)have your canopy open.... otherwise you cant go up too high because your head will hit the canopy..

yup-thanks to all the team. I still wanna know the name of the guy who made the great msn blder....the FMB. this is the best aspect from my perspective, as it works nearly flawlessly and reliably, unlike that mutant cr#p they packaged with CFS2 that drove me nuts.

the adjustable AAA on ships really helps, as does any adjustment on ai stuff.

Even my main gripe about PF not being anywhere near finished doesnt detract from the great product....the lack of ships being my main gripe, but i realize they must be expensive to make. just wish there could be a bit more user input to such things.

anyway, compare this to ms cfs series...not one patch or even an answer to countless problems with a sim that was not half completed before it was born. at least all the stuff here works right. id pay for any adon that comes out with the unfinished stuff, and will buy anything 1C comes up with along these lines; i want them to succeed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Other than that, best WWII plane vs plane combat sim to date.

u could always shoot your own plane, but sometimes it was dodgy and u hit when u should have missed...

irl, b25 and a20 had electrocal cutouts for each gun on the top turret, so 1 gun would fire, even if the other was turned off

When I think about what Oleg did for us I think that it is very bad that he has almost no resistance strenght to pressure put on him by certain communities.

All those guys that presented charts, accounts, photos, factory data, field data...all in vain.

What I always appreciated the most is respecting other ppl`s effort, lost time and unforced will to do something.Oleg, even though he did a great job at IL2 series....he toned down MG151/20 because a big part of pilots didn`t like it.Sickening.
As if he said "Yeah,ok,great effort proving MG shell addition, guys but I just can`t let that happen".Strange thing is,Oleg and his team made effort to make MG151/20 historical, then made some more effort to bring it back to 3.04v.
