A customer of mine brought some aircraft books in for me today... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif His father is losing his sight and sadly is letting his collection go. His son was going to take them to a charity shop, but then remembered I had a small collection of my own.

Here's a small sample...

These are all great shots ARCHIE_CALVERT

I've linked in my first post of Pictures of War Link is in my sig.

But am wondering what your scanners dpi is set at when you scan, is it over 200?

I found when scanning from magazines or calendars I get better quality by using 200 or less. It doesn't pic up the graininess a bad.

This one was at 150 and it from a calendar. Only problem is if you look close you will see the calendar square boxes and header bleading through the background.

Thanks Toad, I€ll let him know€¦ http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Yep, it€s set at 300dpi. I set it that high so people can downsize them to fit their monitors, the one€s here are roughly 50-75% smaller than the original scans.

Yeah, I know what your saying, but a lot of these are pretty grainy to begin with, I usually tart them up some in Pshop if they look below par

I get that sometimes and either put a couple of nearly transparent (25-50%) layers down that have a slight Gaussian blur to them (About 8 pixels) or if you can put a dark piece of card behind the picture to be scanned, although this is not always feasible.
