I'm curious...what other important times were in history besides cursades and the renaissance which hav an influence to our present day?

In which way impact the crusades our life of today? I am no history buff.

Or the Maya/Ancient China or Japan?

Also, are there any time in history you would not like to be set in Assassins Creed?

I would not like to have a WW2 setting because there are to much games out with that setting. it's getting boring, thats why ww2 would suck for Assassins Creed.

And Japan/Ninja would also be boring because of the same reason. Too much game out with Japan setting.

Are there other times you think would suck with Assassins Creed?

thanks

The thing you have to think about is as time progresses, the use of guns increases and the potential use of an Altair/Ezio style Assassin will diminish.

I certainly don't want Assassin's Creed heading into shooter territory. The addition of a gun-style weapon in AC2 is fine because you won't be running around the streets gunning everyone down. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

What makes Assassin's Creed stand out is that your Assassinations are usually all up close and personal. Knowing you have to see your target face to face makes things a little more visceral and personal. Just grabbing a sniper rifle, shooting someone from 1 mile away and sneaking off just does not fit with the overall game plan.

The setting for Assassin's Creed 2 was picked because it was a pivotal time in history, so it would make sense to have any further games follow a similar pattern.

What about that gamestop interview with Patrice where he said the French Revolution was a great idea but they went with the Renaissance.

Raide, i think they could do the third game played entirely as Desmond and pull it off. Splinter is similar to AC. Get up close and personal. It'd be interesting to see what kind of mechanics you could impliment in a future day city. Much potential

i hope they don't go to far after the renaissance period. the farthest they should go is the French Revolution. I could see that in a Assassin's Creed game. the reason i don't want to go farther is the weaponry. I don't feel that it would be a good balance to have powerful guns and assassins... but thats just what i think...

I don't want to seem patriotic either, because America wasn't "around" back then =P
But the British Empire is hiding, its waiting for you to search for it.

at the end of the video the guy says AC 3 will not play before 1191, but everything after is possible. Also between the Third Crusade and the Renaissance. The only thing is it has to be a time which had a huge impact or which even changed the world. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Mesopotamians\Egyptians, then Greece\Rome and finally all european history are all connected by a common thread. Societies like China, Japan and the precolombian empires we detached from it.

lol, maybe the british empire but since there were so many events and political takeovers/ colonizations during that era you would probably play as multiple assassins in different times and places, take India or America and parts of Africa for example. Britian rule has gone on for a long time so that opens a lot of doors of oppurtunity but it would be akward keeping up with different stories and traveling via Animus to multiple times in one game http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif idk

It's true there are too many games with a WWII setting... but how many of those have you playing a stealthy Assassin instead of some stupid jarhead with a machine gun? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

And if you ask me, ther aren't enough games with a Japanese setting. At least no authentic ones.

Well, the lovely Patrice did say that the IIIrd game will be set before the other two... my bet is Rome. So many lovely assassination targets to pick from... Caligula, anyone? Also, that would mean that it could be set during the life of Christ. The last game did make some religious statements (actually mainly in the symbols at the end). So, Rome is my bet. But Egypt would be awesome.

Velvet Assassin.

I don't think that AC could ever go to Japan. One simple reason: DESMOND MILES ISN'T ASIAN! (how do you expect an Japanese family to travel the globe to an unknown country and turn white?)

Desmond isn't Italian either. If Marco Polo can move to China, why can't Desmond's ancestors as well?

Well, I would think Nazca Peru would be cool, The Nazca Lines are interesting along with the crystal skulls, they could be one of the atrifacts Abstergo are looking for
