After seeing a thread on another forum about this gun camera had to ask.

Has anyone tried this utility to see if it will work with PF? And if so how was it!

http://www.errthum.com/troy/warbirds/guncam/index.html

This is the only link I have for it, as you can see it was originally designed for WarBirds use, but worked quite well with the original IL-2 game. I haven't used it since then. Perhaps there's a newer link/site devoted to doing something similar.

DOH!

I forgot a valuable resource for gun-camera footage, and how-to's for making your own... Wiley's Gun Camera World:

Having gotten around to trying this little jewel have to ask a question.
Feller says he uses a shareware animation utility to switch the jpeg frames to a gif. format,Can Anyone tell me where one of these can be had?

lkemling-You can use trial version of paint shop pro to convert jpg's to gifs and then animate.

There is this wonderful JPGvideo (http://www.ndrw.co.uk/download/free/jpgvideo/jpgvideo.zip) (freeware and works beautiful).

You can learn a bit by visiting its site (http://www.ndrw.co.uk/).

SANDMAN! this is awesome!

Had to fiddle with it for a bit to get it to work, it's not liking my CH joystick input but I can work around that.

Made a quick guncam vid of my own. It was 40 megs uncompressed but got it down to 1.9 megs with DIVX codec. Also need to adjust the camera offset some. The Java guncam is so much easier than trying to record off track files, and once it is set up takes no thought in game.

200x200 vid of SBD going down in flames.

I find Guncams don't work too well with TrackIR. I can't keep my gunsight in the middle of the screen.

Hmmm' have not yet tried it with my track IR 3pro yet buggers!!

LOL... This old chestnut (guncam utility) has been around for a while. Like I said, I first found it way back when IL-2 was released and had some fun with it. I certainly wasn't the first to find it though... I bet a forum search for "guncam" might dredge up some very old posts on the subject.

I use(d) the Animation Shop program bundled with Paint Shop Pro to convert jpg frames to .gif/.avi movies. Worked well back then, and evidently still does.

@ Cephas: You're welcome! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Oberst Wiley has been making these for quite some time. In the original game, you couldn't get a view without the gunsight. Wiley asked Oleg for a view without crosshairs, and he got it. I'd say that the best way is to save a track, then to use a program to capture your footage later when you have control of the views by selecting manual view control during playback.

Looking forward to your footage, Mate http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm sure I did, but that was quite some time ago...I can't recall precisely. I'm always willing to host more Real guncam footage on my Site if you are willing to pass it along. Last that I DO recall is that you were in the process of converting more guncam footage from your 16mm(?) movies into AVI or WMV format.

My Email address is still fliegeroffizier@cox.net

First you generate a bunch of jpg files using guncamera (I suppose you already did this). Inside JPGVideo, press the "Configure" button and fill the upmost textbox pointing to the folder where those jpgs generated by guncamera are. The second textbox assign the folder and name of the video file to be generated. You can also take a look in the codecs option to select your preferred codec as the default compress nothing. DivX is a formidable option to go.
