Just received from a friend:

Quote:

The PC tw@ts are at it again

The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the
2012
London Olympics because they are deemed "too British".

Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be
"offensive" to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team
have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of
Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team "too
militaristically British". Red Arrows pilots were said to be "outraged",
as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games,
something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a
British-based event for being "too British" is an insult - the Arrows are
a symbol of Britain.

The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas
trade,
as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world.

The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was
announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly
spectacular.

It is to be hoped that common sense prevails

If you disagree with this decision, sign the petition on the link below

(although the 'sell by' date has passed this is still accepting signatures)

End quote.

We don't know either...well we do but this isn't the place http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

They have just announced smoking whilst driving will be an offence, but eating is still OK.

Apparently it takes two hands to light a cigarette....http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif and yes it's serious.

"Without a source it sounds like anti-pc hype."

I would find it hard to believe this was organized by over zealous Console Gamers.

And I have a source for mine:

I liked this bit:

"If you're lighting up with one hand and have a *** in the other hand then obviously you've not got any hands on the wheel".

Bloody word censor, English slang for a cigarette, begins with 'f' ends with 'g' and has an 'a' in the middle.
And those are the words of the British Road Safety Minister Jim Fitzpatrick. Not exactly PC when you think about it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The same thing that happened to America.

LOL that is hilarious. The day the Blue Angles, Thunderbirds, etc, aren't allowed to do anything, you let me know, ok?

Just referring to the trouble San Francisco was giving the military. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

This is really surprising news. I would have imagined that Ken Livingstone would have found their color scheme quite appealing.....

If Ole Borris, (johnson, not yeltsin) is the next Mayor, maybe he will have something to say of it.

This thing is popping up everywhere, even though it's not true:

http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nod...9&contentPK=18407510 (http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=156130&command=displayContent&sourceNode=242285&home=yes&more_nodeId1=156139&contentPK=18407510)

But if it makes those who wish it were true feel better, because it gives them some perceived political correctness to rail against, then I guess it's relatively harmless.

Et Voila, Megile est correct.

Actually, there is nothing in that story that says this is not accurate. It says the ministry of blah blah blah is not commenting, and that the team has not heard.

'But team spokesman Rachel Huxford said: "We have had no discussions about the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics whatsoever.'

"The Department for Culture, Media and Sport was unavailable for comment."

To clear the air, the blah blah blah Min. people should come forward and state that although all aspects of the opening are not planned yet, the Red Arrows would be welcome. Most welcome.

And they should declare that they have no intention of making Noel Edmonds the mascot, 'cos I heard that rumour too!

Seriously this is such a non-story.

There is already now apparently a female member of the Queens Guard's outside Buckingham Palace.

Perhaps the guards should be removed entirely because they might be seen as too militaristically British.... Perhaps put Barney the children's dinosaur or the Tele-Tubbies instead in their place?

What in the heck is the world coming to?

Why would they do that? I think he would be an excellent choice. Just imagine the racks and racks of Noel Edmonds plushies..
