Ita an option in the difficulty setup.

If you do NOT select " No Instant Mission Success" option(toggle switched to left/Light on), then you'll see on the monitor "Mission Completed" almost immediately...as a result,at the end of your mission, you WILL be allowed to "Apply" and you WILL therefore go on to the Next mission(unless you get killed captured).... You do NOT have to re-fly, and re-fly, and re-fly the same Exact mission, seeking some arbitrary set of "Objectives" in order to proceed. It is more like Real-Life: You go out on a mission, and whether you succeed or not,as long as you live, the next day you fly a NEW mission, NOT an exact computer-reencactment/replay of the same one.

Of course, to get points and awards, etc, you DO need to get the Mission(s) objectives accomplished...

[The technique used by mission/campaign builders to make this happen is to set up something like "recon" of one's own airfield as a/primary mission objective...therefore that Mission is completed essentially as you are preparing/taking off from own afld...and you see the "mission Complete" message....it really doesn't 'mean' anything.]

I hope the preceding makes sense...
