View Full Version : 2 RBJ-May God Forgive Me

I said in my post to RBJ's trimwhiner thread that I wouldn't revisit the issue until the FB patch came out. Problem is RBJ, you misquoted me and reached some conclusions that I feel I must respond to.

(Note to Tully/Mods, since you needed to lock that thread due to name calling, this is the only way I know of to respond to RBJ. I don't mean to start up another name calling thread. Put on the lock if need be.)

RBJ, I can see why you get so many negative responses. At
least two of the posters actually fly real airplanes.
Many more have flown some in the military. Have you? If not, just where do you get your "credentials" from?
RBJ said;
You say I get negative responses because a couple guys can fly a cessna? People who fly cessnas or airbusses and come into this game forum acting like they are "experts" on WW2 sims really get my goat.

RBJ, those folks might not be "experts" on WW2 flight sims, but I'll take their word anytime. They are real pilots of real planes. The laws of physics don't change. It's (essentially) the same air moving over (essentially) the same control surfaces. You evaded the question..."where do you get your credentials from?" I would tend to belive those who have actually flown, not someone who "plays the game". My three real life flying experiences I discount as giving me any kind of real knowledge as they were only for 30-45 minutes of actual control, mostly flat and level plus some co-ordinated turns, nothing aerobatic at all. The pilots did all the hard stuff, takeoff, landing and making sure I didn't fly us into the ground. But...I have flown. I have felt the effects of air moving over control surfaces, the pressure of the stick in my hands and the rudder pedals at my feet. I have used a real trim wheel. Unless you've had some stick time in the real world, you are the goat.

rexcarrs said;
I've (still) only got the original IL-2. Trim is OK in it
(for a game), but with my few real piloting experiences,
trim seemed slow compared to the (game). Sounds to me like
FB is more realistic.
RBJ said;
You don't even have FB so I will take what you say with a grain of salt.

RBJ, what have I said about FB? My comment only mentioned my experiences with the original IL-2 compared to my real life experiences. My FB comments were based on what I've read from various sources both on this forum and other websites. I wasn't saying that FB was better or worse. I don't have it yet, so I don't know. I was only saying it "sounds like" it's more realistic. Oleg and crew are getting their info from real pilots, so, as with the forums' real pilots, I would go with what they have come up with. If you want to play FB like a 'game', go ahead. That's why the sim is scaleable. Don't whine if you don't want to play with full realism.

rexcarrs said;
You want a level playing field? Seems you have it. Since you "can't cheat" online, and you have FB like your fellow flyers, isn't that 'level'?
RBJ said;
And you are also wrong in your assertation that I can no longer still kick the online butts of people who don't use trim. I can still turn just as hard as in IL2.

RBJ, I made no such assertion! I have no idea how well you fly online. I don't care. A little paranoid perhaps?

rexcarrs said;
ElAurens idea of putting the trim on the mouse wheel wasn't stupid, it was brilliant! Just like a real plane, (or at least the ones I've flown), a trim wheel. I kicked myself for not thinking of it myself. (I have no HOTAS)
RBJ said;
If you have IL2 and you think putting trim on your mousewheel instead of the throttle wheel of your joystick is brilliant, then I feel sorry for you.

RBJ, you feel sorry for me because I've found a way to take my (meager) real life experience and replicate it in a way that helps make the game more immersive for me? (I grant you make have read and responded to my post prior to my edit where I remarked I did not have a HOTAS. All I've got at the moment is an old Saitek 3 axis/4button stick. I have nowhere to assign much of anything.) And if you "feel sorry" for me because I have to use the keyboard, remember, real WW2 pilots couldn't map a dam thing to anything!

Finally these comments of yours are downright amusing.

-The first thing you have to realize, is that you are wrong on all counts.
Oh really? And who made you god?

-I get so many negative responses because of acephobia.
Sounds to me like you have a greater opinion of yourself than you should. You must be a Leo or something and have some Taurus in you. You come off as arrogant and stubborn. (I should know, I have both and I need to temper them regularly.)

-I am just here to help everyone out.
I agree that some of your posts have merit, but you seem to have let it go to your head.

-Once again, you have not grasped the concept of my threads.
Well.....that may be. But I'm not sure you have fully grasped some of the concepts you speak of either.

This ends it. (*yeah, we've heard that from you before rexcarrs*)
RBJ, if you respond I will read it. However their will be no further response from me.
I just had to get a few things off my chest.

Let the gamers play the games. I have been playing combat flight sims for 6 years and probably have over 20,000 online kills. I study the planes IN THE SIM more than anybody and know whats going on. Trust me when I tell you things. When it comes to trim IL2 was better.

Heck I have over 2000 recorded kills in Thunderbirds of CFS1, and when I left that game 4 years ago I probably had 8000 kills total (counting Ridgerunners)

I can pop off 100 a night easy.

But I have got 1000 points (al air to air kills on human pilots) with a single flight in a MiG with limited ammo in IL2.

10 kills a day is nothing.

TAW_Jenikov discovered something::

- WHO CARES?
- its a GAME, just play it....

I have a feeling RBJ is not really a single humanoid person/personette. RBJ is the Collective Guilt of the 5% internet dogfighters, the horned angel of Truth sitting upon the shoulder of every modern FB simmer during every internet dogfight.

However, one the other hand:: If, in fact, RBJ is a real person/personette, I would vote him/her most likely to succeed in real life WW2 air combat, because RBJ refuses to follow the Rules, plays dirty, and aggressively admits to it in a provacative manner. In another time, RBJ would fit in with the Flying Tigers or Black Sheep, feared and hated more by his own side than by the Enemy.

And he could trim a P~40 to turn tighter than a Hayabusa.

But for now this it's a game and we are gamers and some poeple are forgetting that and being... silly.

I have 2 autographed from Oleg documents and an IL2 Sturovik T-shirt (medim sized...whoops) for my discertations of trim on a slider and my ace tips. The funny thing is I should have won "best pilot" but they gave that to somebody who has never even posted in the forum instead (furthur proof of this forum's "acephobia") My confidence is due to the fact that I am an online ace. In the end, there really is nothing funny about it. I can be a cold blooded ace who packs a mean 30mm in the nose cannon sand uses trim ona slider.

20,000 kills might be possible in six years if he flys 7 days a week. i know i get 15 to to 35 kills a day depending how long i fly. and i fly 5 to 6 days a week and i flew 4 years in janes ww2 fighters previous, and a top ace could get 100 kills a night in there on a long day which i did uncounted times. as did most all in the AFJ back in janes ww2 fighters.boom and zoom was devastating then. so it is possible. kills are much harder in FB than in those other sims though. he could have over 10,000 kills online without effort if addicted.

RBJ you cant win the title "online ace". you never fly as RBJ online. thus YOU arent an online ace. although another person who uses a different online alias to fly might also be you-- but thats a question for your psychotherapist......

Can you imagine this forum without RBJ, or an RBJ-like entity?

I reckon RBJ could be Oleg, taking revenge on the forum for giving him so much grief over patches, FMs, roll rates, various whiners, etc, etc...

An Oleg/RBJ would have the required amount of time flying and knowledge of all the plane speeds much like our fabled RBJ

.
It could be a Dr. Jekyl and Mr Hyde situation.

Oleg sits down to read the forums and after a while we can see his hand inch towards the trim-on-slider device which starts the transformation. His eyebrows grow togethor, and an evil light gleams from his eyes.

Hours later Oleg is found in a disoriented state near the computer, and there are several new postings from RBJ. Even Oleg may not be aware that he is, in fact, RBJ.

Frightening isn't it.

Has anyone ever seen RBJ and Oleg at the same time?

Hmmm...

the true is RBJ might be an alter ego for some freaky mod....have you noticed how quickly his posts get "edited", locked or simply flow with the mods mood?

on the other hand it might be some nintendo crazed authistic 10 year old kid on his dads computer just making life impossible for the rest of us.....

A 1,000 points in a night on a limited ammo server in a MiG. Honestly big deal. I grabed 1,000 and a full realism server (minus complex engine mangament because I'm still learning and perfecting that offline) on my first online dogfight.

There are two kinds of people in this world, those with loaded guns and those who dig. Start digging.

I think some people would be surprised at the number of kills they have online over the years. As xSuicidecharlie wrote, 1000 points ain't nothing. That's why I don't care if people steal my kills. There's pleanty to go around. And I don't keep my stats. Thats why I don't care if someone collides with me either. My shooting % is usually around 12-15% and I have been known to shoot my guns in the air for no reason.

I have no way to track by IL2:FB stats (that I know of, anyway) but I have been flying WWII Online for two years and in the last 18 months that they have been keeping track of personal stats I have approximately 3000 air-to-air kills in aircraft... I really don't play that much and excluding a few weekend bingers where I played 10+ hours here and there I might play a night or two a week on average over that time.

I see no reason why 20,000 kills in SIX years is so unheard of?

Just two "long" sessions a month could get you 200 kills, times 12 months is 2400 kills a year... and that's without any weekday/casual gaming.

Oh well.. whatever.. carry on!
