does it? im planning on buying a webcam to use with freelook, because i refuse to pay almost 200 bucks for something that would work just as well with a webcam,

does anyone here use it? whats the best webcam to get for freelook?

thanks a lot

yes it does work all right compared to its cost = with LED on head mount, in dark(ish) room, and frequent re-centering needed

AFAIK it doesn't need a fancy webcam at all, as long as it can do 30 FPS (or more), but expect more tweaking needed than with TrackIR

but it is a stop-gap solution, as soon as SoW:BoB is out 11 months from now, you will have to buy TrackIR, because 6DOF head movement is not possible with Freelook, only TrackIR.

A trackIR won't do you much good for SoW either, as it only has 2DOF support as well. Only the TrackIR3 and newer have the ability for 6DOF support.
